Comments for Cheap Trick, One On One

Perhaps Cheap Trick's best album ever, accompanied by their best video work. Obviously, the "She's Tight" video is a must-see, but it was their clip for "If You Want My Love (You Got It)" that both introduced them to the 80's crowd and established them as an MTV force. Remember the swinging lights? "I Want Be Man" may be their hardest rocking song ever! A must have for pop-rock afficianados.

Produced by Roy Thomas Baker (known for producing Queen and the Cars). Whether it's the production or just the way the band intended to sound, Cheap Trick sounds marvelous on this album. Absolutely one of their best.

One of my all-time favorite CT albums, chock full of great tunes. My only criticism is that Robin tends to scream more than sing. Still, every song on the album is great, and it's one album I can listen to from start to finish without being bored for a second.

I have to agree with about every coment here. However, I think the use of Robin Zander's screaming vocals are what make some of these songs so powerful. Overall, this is one of Cheap Trick's best albums.

I'm glad to see this album getting the respect it deserves here from everyone...Definately a great full-on balls out classic...one that thought was underrated

One of their best. I agree, Robin Zander's harsh vocals on songs like "If you want my love (you got it)" makes it one of the most moving songs they've ever done.

my first cheap trick album. i remember getting up early one cold winter morning in violet town, victoria, australia. it was about 2am, & this new song came on the radio. i poured myself some cereal as an early morning snack, sat down & had my first cheap trick moment with "if you want my love". this was the start of my love affair with what i regard as one of the finest & most consistent rock bands to ever grace our world. one on one led to me tracking down the cheap trick back catalogue, & so & so on. my favourite track is "one on one". i also love the collection of short rock tracks all linked up on side 2. i work all day in a radio studio, & have on my wall the original vinyl copy of "one on one" & also another of my faves, "all shook up". you''re never far from a cheap trick moment when you''re with me ...spelloman
Robin Zander, Rick Nielsen, Bun E.Carlos, and Jon Brant. Whomissed the provocative video "She`s Tight"? The grinding guitarsand the visual cues made this every male MTV addict`s bestfantasy list.

Many 'Trick fans around the world claim that when Tom 'George' Peterson left, things went donwhill - I would, however, argue that 'One on One' is a serious re-vitalizer after the so-so 'All shook up'. Once again, the 'Trick dives headdown into classic rock territory and just as usual they have consulted The Beatles back-catalogue for inspiration (not to be confused with the Chicago song). This time Rick 'Leslie' Nielsen not only borrows, but he actually replicates a whole segment from 'While my Guitar gently sleeps', the old chestnut from George Harrison 'Ford',on the intriguing 'If you want my love'. And I love it. Everyone else with a serious Beatlesque fetisch should love it too. One of my personal faveourites, apart from 'Danke Schoen' - which 'Trick' never recorded for some strange reason - is 'Love's gotta hold on me'. This is CT as we would like to remember them, just like we would like to remember George Clooney for his performance in 'Return of the Killer Tomatoes'(One on One)and not 'Batman and Robin'(The Doctor).
