Comments for Celine Dion & Andrea Bocelli, The Prayer (Grammy consideration CD single)

This is the very popular Celine Dion/Andrea Bocelli song from the 1998 “Quest For Camelot” animated motion picture. Although never released as a single, the song still made a hit for itself on US radio even if for a little while. I got information on this promotional CD from Gracenote. There is front cover art with Celine and a bald-headed-but-still-cute Bocelli, but I don’t know about back cover insert. The song triumphed as the 1999 Golden Globe winner for Best Achievement in Music (Original Song) but didn’t win the Academy Award that same year. Okay, everyone, get over it: this CD mentions Celine first and Andrea second because Andrea’s “Sogno” CD wasn’t even released yet. The only other Bocelli song to make it to US radio before that was his “Time To Say Goodbye (Con Te Partirò)” with Sarah Brightman (now that was her single, which did get the US commercial release), and at this rate I don’t think other Bocelli songs will be US radio bait. So the 1997 Angel release of the TTSG single and this 1999 single are all the more worth noting because this is music that is so beautiful, it’s too good for US radio play.
