Comments for Church, The, Heyday

Brilliant album: if this doesn't make you want to buy more, then there's no hope for you. Good use made of string and horn section (Live, not synthed !), although in later interviews, the band say "we started playing those ideas on guitar instead." Fair enough; they're guitarists after all. Marty and Peter's ever-present jangling interweavings are here in spades (Tristesse, Columbus), Tantalized blows your socks off, Happy Hunting Ground kicks the arse out of the instrumental market (buy a new stereo just to hear this track), Myrhh is sheer poetry. Where does this man get his lyrics ? Brian Smith

This is one of the best Church albums, in fact one of my all-time favorite albums, the one that always ends up back on my Stereo time and time again. Sue

Along with Seance, definitely the Church''s most satisfying effort. A stimulating ride down mythology lane, with plenty of larger-than-life imagery to keep it interesting.
