Comments for Clapton, Eric, From The Cradle

E-MAIL: mco9829@rit.edu
Clapton finally gets an entire album to play the blues. While not great, it surely shows his progress as a modern day blues great. If you liked this album, check out the bootleg CD "Eric Clapton: The Blues Concert" It features better versions of some of the same songs on "Cradle" plus other classic blues tunes. It's live and full of energy unlike "Cradle" at times. Still, a pretty good album though. From the Cradle 7.5

Eric gets his chance to fill an album with blues, and he takes full advantage. That's how I'd sum up this must have for any Clapton and blues fan. From the Cradle showcases the vocal maturity which Clapton has discovered. Oh yeah, the guitar is great too! Bottom line: buy it.

As a blues guitarist my self, this album rocks. I'm so glad Eric put out an album DEVOTED to the blues. If you are a fan of the blues, buy this album.

Without a doubt, this is a must listen for any blues fan. Clapton has a nice choice of songs here, from the slow, brooding Third Degree to the rip-roaring I'm Tore Down, peppered with classics like Motherless Child and my personal favorite Five Long Years. Bottom line, buy it!

Not so good. The vocals on this album are awful. It''s as if he were trying to imitate someone else, instead of using his own voice. He even said on TV that basically, he imitated "those old black buys." A few years ago, I regarded Clapton as a guitarist, but not as a singer. But now, he''s become a good blues singer. He should have sung in his own voice instead of trying to imitate someone else.
A must for every blues fan. Clapton is at his best!
