On what do four friends draw for inspiration after years of making music in separate projects and then coming together for the pure passion of friendship and songwriting? “On instinct and emotions that allows us to write songs that touch our hearts” was the answer for the four members of littleSUNDAY. The new CD, “Day Of Hollow” is brimming with the vibrant dynamics the group possesses, but with an underlying urgency of four talented musicians rediscovering the inspirational drive that brought them together in the first place. littleSUNDAY has consistently explored their songwriting, pushing the boundaries during rehearsal and on stage and now, with this recording, they’re taking their material to a higher level. The band originally wanted to bring a raw energy to the studio, but instead began to hone the music, to polish off the rough edges, while still maintaining the original feel of the song. Re-constructing songs in the studio, was not their first intention, but things gradually evolved as the mastery of producer Dom Polito started to show the four members of littleSUNDAY the possibilities. Like kids in a candy factory, the four musicians and friends began to modify the palette until the colours were just right and “the results are quite rewarding” says lead vocalist Rick Farrell. “We’re experimenting with sounds, especially guitar sounds” explains lead guitarist JP “that we never would have tried to achieve by just playing live. Now we have something truly amazing to show.” “Day Of Hollow” was written in the creative whirlwind of freeform rehearsals where the band delved into different ideas, built upon each other's suggestions, influences, and then refined their musical tapestries in the relaxed studio atmosphere provided by producer Dom Polito. The album title “Day Of Hollow” reflects the sombre character of some of the songs, which was brought on by recent world events, but without losing sight of the fact that ultimately the message is one of positive attitude. Day Of Hollow was recorded at AudioFX Recording Studios in the North part of Toronto over a period of weeks, to account for all the musicians’ busy schedules. The preparation of the band's extensive rehearsals paid off and the bass and drum parts were done in just a few days. As a producer, Dom Polito had a clear vision of what he wanted for each and every song. “It was well thought out, but it also changed and evolved during the recording period" says JP. "The recording process was very relaxing” according to drummer Eric Bonatti “so much so, that when my tracks were completed, I still wanted to keep recording more!" Upcoming dates are planned to promote the release of “Day Of Hollow”. Canadian tour plans will be announced shortly.
