Comments for Elton John, 16 Legendary Covers - From 1969/1970

There is an interseting story behind this collection. Elton used to do freelance session work on these crude LPs that had reasonable fascimiles of the latest hits, sold in places (mainly in the UK) like Oxfam, Woolworth's, grocery stores, you name it. People then didn't care if it was the same exact songs on the radio, and almost couldn't tell the difference. As for Elton, he wasn't Mr. Moneybags yet! He had to bring home the bacon, so doing these shoestring-budget recordings with "invisible" crack session musicians would be the only alternative from a regluar 9.00 to 5.00 job.
