Comments for Jacques & Nigel, Chic and Modern (Single)

While naTiON sHOck! may be a fan favorite, it was this LP that got the mainstream press to stand up and take notice of Jacques and Nigel (and unfortunately, sit back down again, unimpressed). Random pressings contain the hidden track "Walking Down Steps (Buckle Your Ego)" recorded by Jacques live to two-track when Sonic Youth singer/guitarist Thurston Moore was visiting the studio. Originally issued May 25th 1999, it was immediately deleted the next day and replaced with the 'reissue' which contains the standard 19-song tracklisting. Even later pressings of the CD contain the hidden-hidden track "There's No Such Thing (As a Dick That Big)." When asked about the obviously profane track, Nigel commented, "But it's about his brother [Dick]!"

This is a major step backward for JAcques & Nigel. This album wanders aroujnd all over the room! I don't like the songs anymore, this cant be the best!

Easily the best album in there career, Jacques & Nigel show off many skills and style, as usual. "I'll Give You Love" is one of the best songs in tehir catalogue. Hear the classic "Inspector's Insecure Variety Spot" and you will know it. I recommend this.

Great album - like the Velvets with speech impediments. Check it out. I heard the Jacques & Nigel albums are being reissued? Anyone know?
