Comments for Coltrane, John, Ole Coltrane

I don't know all the album, but have a recording of the track Ole and I find it wonderful. It's cross-gender jazz touching hard your hart for its psichedelic atmosphere. Cool!

Ole Coltrane. This is the album that changed my life the most. The hypnotic double bass darkens the whole tune, together creating a subtle tension that almost climaxes at the bowed solo. Elvin Jones sets fire to this tune all the way through, and Dolphy is beautifully fluttering around it. But Trane unleashes, going beyond sax limits, pushing the envelope, like the first tracks in fresh snow. making sounds on the sax that are beyond the mortal player's limits. But the thing that really get's me is that this album was recorded in the sixties. I can imagine a large group of musicians back then being scared by this man, he was so far ahead. THe concept and arrangement and lineup of this tune Ole affected me on a very deep level.

Ole'' Coltrane was something I stumbled upon after listening to the Greatist Hits with Favorite Things. I didn''t know anything about Coltrane at all. In fact I can''t remember why I bought him in the first place, come to think of it. But once I heard the song "Ole''" I think it sent me over the top right there. I like the pace of Ole''. I like the spanish feel. I like John Coltrane. I''m not a big John Coltrane fan because I don''t have the money to buy alot of his stuff. But once I do get there, if everything is half of what "Ole''" was, it is going to be a great ride!!
