Comments for Savoy Brown, Best Of Savoy Brown

Like most "Best Of" albums - the word "Best" is open to interpretaion, speculation and outright disagreement. I don't agree that this album represents the best that Savoy Brown put out over the years and thus I rate it lower than it should be on my personal list. There are indeed a few BO cuts here (most of the early stuff written or sung by Youlden) and Wang Dang Doodle which shows the groups true strength of taking American blues and "Savoying" it. I suspect this entire album was a concession to Kim Simmonds who kept the name alive over the years before forming Foghat which is curiously mentioned in the liner notes. Promotion anyone? Overall - not bad but compromised.
