Comments for Crow, Sheryl, Sheryl Crow

If you liked the first Sheryl Crow album, expect a litte bit of a change when you hear the new self-titled one. Not only has Sheryl gone for a different look, but her sound has rocked up a notch or two. The lyrics are still whimsical and creative, the melodies instantly likeable, but now set a against a pattern of grooves that'll definitely get you movin'. She got a lot of help from some very well known names. Steve Berlin on sax, Jim Keltner on drums, Neil Finn of Crowded House on vocals. The rhythm section from Cracker, and the production team of Tschad Blake and Mitch Froom, who produced Los Lobos last two albums also lend a hand. Make no mistake though, this is Sheryl's album. Not only does she produse it, she writes/co-writes every song, as well as plays guitar, bass, and a myriad of keyboards. Favorite tracks so far: Change, Sweet Rosalyn, and Redemption Days. Check it out!

Definitely one of the best albums of the year. This work is a departure from Tuesday Night Music Club in many respects, but the quality of the music was by no means sacrificed. A very different sound with a lot of unique effects that are worth listening to regardless of Sheryl Crow's excellent vocals. Sheryl Crow's style changes from funk to pure rock to folk balladry on this album, and the sound is almost experimental in nature on a number of tracks. And the lyrics are vintage Sheryl, not only catchy but often making a statement, whether the song is politically or romantically charged (or neither!) Tracks to listen to: Home, Redemption Day, Hard to Make a Stand, Maybe Angels, Sweet Rosalyn (and all the rest, because they're awesome!!)

Excellent! A more consistent album than her debut. Lots ofcool looping. My favorite tracks are The Book, If It Makes You Happy, Maybe Angels and Ordinary Morning, but it's really difficuly to pick favorites because every song rocks! There are really no mediocre tracks on this album!

Well, that's music! I mean, nothing strange or "new", just good sounds, really good sounds, great voice and lyrics and she's a beautiful gnocca too...(that's italian slang). What else do I need? I've grown old listening Dire Straits, Sting, Clapton, U2, Queen, not Nirvana or other "new" music. With Alannis Morrisette they are my favourite singers of the year. I'm sorry for I can't vote more than 10 (I'd give that CD a big 30). Anyway, I'm waiting for what she and her boyfriend Eric wiil do in the future... Do you remember the Pavarotti international for example? Great music!!!!!!!!!

Definitely the best album of 1996. Sheryl takes her songwriting and singing to a new level on this spectacular sopohomore effort. Best tunes are "Maybe Angels," "A Change," "Home," "Superstar," and "Ordinary Morning." The album's gem is "Sweet Rosalyn," a Beatlesque rocker that deserves to be played at high decibels! If you're lucky enough to check out the Japanese import, the bonus cuts "Sad Sad World" and "Free Man" are much better than "Redemption Day" and "The Book"...but there's not a truly bad song on the entire project. This album ROCKS! A well-deserved Grammy win for Best Rock Album of 1996...it definitely was!!!

"Sheryl Crow"is by far the best Album this year ! All the songs are extreamly good (Superstar for one !)Sheryl has come up trumps on this Second offering ! This Album is much more her,so to speak!!She is more open and more her self than she was on,on Tuesday Night Music Club! And so much for the Walmart thing! She did not need them to sell her Album she has done well enough without them!
