Comments for Crowded House, Together Alone

E-MAIL: N.A.Eaves@ncl.ac.uk
The most accomplished and moody album to come from Crowded House, and a stark contrast to "Woodface". Mark Hart joined the band after several years touring with them as their extra guitar and keyboard player. Now the band featured New Zealand, Australi and America. The band sensed the need to define themselves outside of Mitchell Froom, and so decided to work with someone ''wild'', finally punting on Youth. They hired a house in "Kare Kare", where the film "The Piano" was filmed, and set up the studio inside this house. Wild scenery and weather stirred many emotions, and the two months that was spent solidly in this house created a unique atmosphere that the album encaptulates throughout. "Fingers of Love" and "Kare Kare" emerged from sultry days, and the brass band and Maori choir heard on "Together alone" round it off perfectly.
A deservedly popular album, accused by some of havingBeatles influences.
