Comments for Cruz, Edgar, Classical Demands

E-MAIL: rfloyd@ionet.net
this album is great . he is one the most talented guiutarists in the usa
Cruz is a young-blood on the classical music scene... and aperformer prone to fun. The classical pieces are to be expectedon an album like this (that is, the Bach, Beethoven and Tarrega)but it is the surprises that make this album stand out."Bohemian Rhapsody" is simply amazing. It`s classical music, yes, but I can picture Wayne and Garth bobbing their mops of hairto Queen`s music as Cruz pushes classical guitar to its limits.Cruz`s version of "Classical Gas" (by Mason Williams, like Cruz, from the U. of Oklahoma) is equally fun. In all, an enjoyablealbum from track 1 to 18. However, whether from time constraintsor difficulty of the material, goofs plague the album. I cringeexpecting several of the errors I know are coming. Some tracksprobably should have been cut or re-recorded. A shame, since this corner of the world (Oklahoma, USA) is home to world-class flamencoguitarist, Robert Radford, keyboardist Leon Russel and one-time host toEric Clapton. In any event, for originality and vigor, definitely a 9, but for recording flaws, I have to give it a 6 on a 10 scale.
