Just one question, what the hell are bananafishbones

MY FAVORITE!!!!!

Firstly Bananafishbones was named after a story Robert read. The album is one of their best. Tortured is a good description.

very different from most of the cure's other stuff. with the exception of "wailing wall", every song on it sounds totally nonsensical when you first listen to it. listening to the title song, i always picture a circus scene gone wrong.

I don't like them much but this has a certain charm reminiscent of the time it came from. A few good tracks but nothing special.

contains the best Cure song ever, "the Empty World", and worth it just for that.

I disagree...Bananafishbones is the best cure song ever. The other tracks (besides Birdmad Girl and Caterpillar) pale in comparison

I've heard so many people critize this album about how bad an album this was so I wasn't expecting much when I bought it but I was so wrong!!!!!!!!!This album smokes from beginning to end, except for the title song(which is one of the few cure songs I don't like) every song is wonderful. But the best would have to be "Bird Mad Girl", one of my top 5 cure songs. I recommend buying it if you had any hesitations before, you won't be dissapointed!!!

This Album is so hard to find. I think it's out of print. When i finally did get a copy on cassette, I was disappointed. No wonder it's not made any more. There's no manic to balance the depression. The Best cure songs are always the ones that are precariously balanced on a tiny perch of insecure happiness which hangs over a pit of the deepest despair imaginable. But "Dressing Up" makes me want to wear makeup, which is pretty cool.

Dismal prodiction completely destroys a descent set of songs, nearly unlistenable....see bootlegs for real versions!!!

my least favorite cure album - really screwed up caterpillar is the only good song

This album is very fustrating to listen to at first. Half of the lyrics don't appear to make much sense, and they all seem to focus on their depression. The one absolute jewel on this album is "The Catapillar". This song makes this album. I also like "The Top" but "Piggy in the Mirror" makes me want to go Ugh!!!... This album is worth checking out if you can find it... I was lucky!

I think Robert's exhaustion from his work with the Banshees while trying to keep the Cure alive shows here, as the songs are very agonizing. But that's not to say they are bad. With the exception of the title track and "Piggy," there is some fine work on here. "Wailing Wall" is still one of the more underrated Cure songs to date.

One of Robert's favorite authors is J.D. Salinger, who wrote a short story called BANANAFISHBONES, he also wrote THE CATCHER IN THE RYE, other than that all i have to say is that this is one of the greatest albums by THE CURE.
