This is without a doubt the best of the Cure's "pop" albums. An extreme reaction to the morbidity of "Pornography," the songs are instrumentally buoyant, though the lyrics on certain songs are not as cotton-candy as the music (see "Just One Kiss"). A must have.

I can't say all the songs are not depressing?! What about "Lament" The words are a bit down, but the music is absolutely "Brilliant" the same with the extended virsion of "Just One Kiss"

Good God! La Ment is one of THE best Cure songs right up there with Plainsong and To Wish Impossible Things... Check out the FlexiPop version of La Ment for a real treat!

I think that Robert was having a lot of SEX when The Cure made "Japanese Dream"-morbidity was replaced by somewhat sexual friskyness-drool to "Upstairs Room" & "Just 1 Kiss". YUMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!
It was as if Robert Smith awoke from a bad dream for 3 yearsand created something so happy and catchy that he wasunrecognizable. But believe it. Tasty and highly reccommended.
