I've got to say, I'm not especially crazy about this one. To me it sounds a bit dated. The "samples" (edits) provide a certain amount of interest, but on the whole it seems a bit slow. I like "Peak of Normal" better. Everyone does cite this as an influence on Byrne/Eno, though, and of course that begat Public Enemy and that begat a lot of what we're listening to today.

Trivia note: In 1994 here in Norway, "Cool In The Pool" was used as backdrop to a TV non-alcoholic beer commercial. The commercial featured lots of bikini-clad ladies jumping into a pink pool and being served this -uh- delicious brew. The spot went on to be voted Worst Commercial Of The Year for its allegedly sexist portrayal of women...
Czukay`s first solo album after he quit Can in 1976, largelyrecorded and edited in his Cologne apartment. Czukay madesounds that appear to be produced with modern sampling techniques, although these were not yet available in the late 70`s - making him a true innovator. The music is colourful, as in a cartoon soundtrack. A truly great recording.
