Comments for Dag Nasty, Field Day

E-MAIL: Nlechman@aol.com
Interesting Note: The version of 12XU as done here by Dag Nasty is an homage to their "predecessor", Minor Threat, who covered the song as a tribute to the British band Wire, who wrote the tune originally.
This is Dag Nasty at its most grown up. FIELD DAY shows the band working within the confusing arena of the 1980`s music scene, when punk bands (like 7Seconds, Suicidal Tendencies) were trying to clean up their actsa little and get some notice from the big labels (most of these bands were disasterously unsuccessful). The music spans from raw Old School Punk to enjoyable Power Pop to boisterous Metal (a little) as well as some very well done Jazz and Blues.Yes, this album has it all. It is where many loyal 80`s punkers believed the future of Punk was headed. However, the late 80`s ended up in a wash of bland, unoriginal "Alternative" crap and pre-Grunge Metal/Punk blends that fellall too short of the honesty and spirit of bands like Dag Nasty. Thus, they disbanded for real this time after a short, post-album tour, save for a single sloppy reunion CD a few years later (See Four on the Floor).
