Comments for Alan Parsons Project, The, The Definitive Collection

I hate "best ofs," but this is a very, very good one! Parsons himself selected and remastered every track on here and, at the time of its release, these versions are second to none in terms of sonic brilliance (worth having for that alone), but he has also maintained the basic track order from most of the original albums, complete even with continuity links in some cases. A great taster for the not totally committed fan, but you will need the original albums as well! However, this is an excellent compilation (2 CDs in a single case), vastly superior to any other APP compilation, some of which, particularly "The Best of APP, v. II" are horribly butchered and are to be avoided at all costs! Certainly, this would make a good present to someone unconverted. I''m pleased that it contains such gems as "If I Could Change Your Mind" along with all the singles, delivering a fair idea of what this album-oriented project was about. If you have the albums get it this as well, if not buy this and then get all the albums :-) (Ian C. Thomas)
