Comments for Deep Purple, Powerhouse

Actually, only Black Night is from Tokyo. Hush, Wring That Neck, and Child In Time all come from the mini concert performed before the Concerto For Group And Orchestra (the latter two of which appear on the CD version of CGO), Cry Free is a leftover from the In Rock sessions (it also can be found on the 25th anniversary edition of In Rock), and Painted Horse is a leftover from the Who Do We Think We Are sessions. If you aren't planning on getting the CD release of CGO (you aren't? Why on earth not??? :) then this release is worth seeking out for WTN and CIT, which put the In Concert versions to shame.

Although being an odd miscellany, Powerhouse is an album really worth having. Painted horse is a great song {I''m looking forward to a remix on the presumed 25th anniv. ed. of WDWTWA}, the version of Hush is awesome and, besides the studio version, this is my favourite version of Child in time {IG is great on this one!}. Black night is energetic and really on a par with Made in Japan {it is from one of those concerts}. Cry free ... well, IMO it is better on the 25th anniv. ed. of In rock.
Itīs recorded live in August 1972 in Tokyo
