I'm very impressed by the lyrics and the indie music. Joe knows how to exploit his voice!

What a great debut for *another* 15 years! IMVHO the best album of the '90's so far.

I think Slang is going to be a great album because, this is the first album in awhile that has not been just ballads from one end to another. this should attract more fans and encourage people to listen to their music.

One of their best so far, equal to Hysteria! Recommended to all music styles fans! The moral, never give up!

What a brilliant album. More harder than any of their other albums, and more darker. "Work It Out" could be classed as a ZZ Top sounding song "Gift Of Flesh" has got some hard rocking guitar riffs "Blood Runs Cold" sounds almost Pink floyd at the start then changes completely. For one this album is not like any of Def Leppards old style at all, The "Tin" sounding Metallic sound has changed to hard rocking deep dark rock, raw and fresh. Def Leppard have changed for the better.

Industrial, Techno, Indie, Rap, Soul, Hard Rock, Alternative, Bjork, U2, ZZ Top, Led Zeppelin, Prince, Boyz II Men, Pink Floyd, The Cult, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Live, Stone Temple Pilots, all that in a 46-minutes album! Whaow! This cd means triumph to DIVERSITY! Could be sells out if whimpy Polygram promoted it appropriately and/or if MTV aired their clips :-(( S L @ N G ! with me!

Add Blues and Deep Purple to the list. The CD is so original! The lads from the U.K. didn't almost never change 'til Slang. I really like the 2 first songs from their B-sides CD, Retro-Active and IMO those 2 songs were the seeds to Slang. Standouts are Turn to Dust, All I Want Is Everything, Work It Out, Gift of Flesh and Blood Runs Cold. It is DEFinately NOT a sell out album comparing to their previous releases. I hardly heard the new tunes on the radio, that's sad.

I have to say that I was very disappointed on the promotion of "Slang". I believe that if it would have gotten more effort to get this album out to the public it would have been a huge album. This album is a definite change, but still has the melodies and hard edge that the other cd's have. Everyone should buy this album, I'm sure that you will find it surprisingly a work of art.

Live? Stone Temple Pilots?? INDUSTRIAL??? Will anyone tell me which songs are based on THOSE flop acts? The 'influences' I can pick are : 1. Boyz II Men - "Breathe a sigh" 2. Nirvana / Pearl Jam - "Deliver Me" 3. Any heavy metal act - "Gift Of Flesh" 4. Rap/hip-hop - "Slang" (perhaps) 5. Their own "Two Steps Behind" - "Where does love go.." 6. Indian garbage - "Turn to dust", "Pearl of euphoria". Listen to "Pearl of Euphoria" while visiting a Krishna ashram in full flow - it's a trip!

Good albumknowing that this is DEF LEPPARD trying to show other bands that they can change too!! it did not do well case fans did not like it I did like the way the tryied new things no one should say its a bad album !! who are you to judge ???and by what standerds are you judgeing?? DEF LEPPARD are a rock band they do what ever they want if they want to go back to the old DL sound then they will they do what ever they want so STOP moning about it ok! DEF LEPPARD ROCKS!!
The cover of this album should tell you that this isa new direction for the group. Very organic in natureyet still incorporating their technical knowledge, Slang must be examined by old fans as well as introducing Def Leppard to some who may not have appreciated their past efforts! Check this one OUT!
