Comments for Dion, Celine, Unison

Tepid excuse for an English-language debut from a spectacular singer. Her vocals and production are well above average...too bad the songs themselves don't measure up. "Where Does My Heart Beat Now" and "If We Could Start Over" are fine enough, and "If Love is Out of Question" is a strong piece. Then there's "Loving Every Moment With You," one of Celine's silkiest and most soulful ballads EVER, but the remaining tunes sound dated and trite. "Unison" is the sort of disc that's a must for die-hard fans only. A couple of nice moments, but far from special. With Celine's next three discs, however, she continued to get better and soar higher each time...thankfully.

Further proof that a good voice is not the same thing as good music.

Even crediting her with a good voice seems generous. She seems to be singing BETWEEN two keys. Her voice is unremarkable, just loud. You want to hear a beautiful voice, check out Joan Baez, Judy Collins, Linda Ronstadt, k.d. Lang.

Geez...is it really THAT horrible? I've heard some of the songs, and for what it is, I don't really think it's extremely despicable. Her performance is well worth the listen even if it never became a favorite among most of her followers.

This is an underappreciated gem from one of the better talented singers out there.
