Comments for Doors, The, The Doors

Of all the Doors recording I own, this first one edges out the others as their best work. It took me a while to decide this. I am a child of the 60s (not a hippie) who only was aware of their single hits. Was more into the pop rock of the 60s. It wasn''t until 1991 when the movie was to be released and I found a cassette of LA Woman in a store for something like $7. After listening a few times to it, I almost literally yelled out "holy shit, these guys are great!" In about the next 6 months after bought all their studio albums and few years later the "In Concert" cd. Imagine listening to all their studio albums in a 6 month period. After one month, I would buy the next one and listen it to death. Then the next, etc. It was great! Unlike back in the late 60s when one would have to wait about a year for the next album. I was able to place their stuff in a better perspective. It was generally thoght at the time that Soft Parade and Waiting for the Sun were a bit lame. They were still great albums and even though the Doors compromised a bit to sound more like what was in vogue, they really showed their diversity. Sorry to get long winded, I get really passionate about the Doors music!
