Comments for Dylan, Bob, Blood On The TracksE-MAIL: meier@zfn.uni-bremen.de Probably the best album of his early years.E-MAIL: mc9247wcuvax1@wcu.edu what do ya mean "early years"...this was late for DylanE-MAIL: bnj1@cornell.edu Nobody says it or sings it better than Bob Dylan: how this album towers, even after twenty tears. As a universal artist, this may be his masterpeice, so far.E-MAIL: P.G.Ward@btinternet.com Everybody thorght that Dylan had past it in the 70`s but Dylan proved his critics wrong with this incredible album. His best ever although i detest buckets of rain!E-MAIL: @delm.gov.tas.au Dylan blew it by re-recording half the tracks in Minnesota. The original (New York) version of the album would have been a masterpiece. The re-recorded tracks relegate the album to a rating of 7 out of 10 for me.E-MAIL: jcmart@maila.wm.edu Personally, I think that Tangled Up in Blue gains a lot without shirt buttons hitting the guitar as in the New York recording. Regardless of the "what if"-ing above, this is a great album. Definitely a good first album for new Dylan fans. A nice sounding album, but when you listen for a while and start to see just what Dylan was going though with these songs, you really feel sorry for him. When a fan told Dylan how much she enjoyed BOTT, he responded that he just couldn't relate to that. he couldn't understand how someone could enjoy that kind of pain.E-MAIL: cedavid@pegasus.rutgers.edu This and John Lennon's "Plastic Ono Band" are the two best, most open self portraits ever recordedE-MAIL: thivier@vision.eri.harvard.edu "Tangled Up and Blue" provided Dylan w/one of his best "in concert" songs.E-MAIL: scaryallen@aol.com E-MAIL: scaryallen@aol.com "The Bible" Absolute great Sunday morning listeningE-MAIL: allor@mitor.com Is this the cd in which he sings "I got you babe" with Cher?E-MAIL: hurricane6@hotmail.com This is clearly his best album. Each song is connected perfectly to the others, yet unique and fascinating.E-MAIL: bgilibertiwine@worldnet.att.net Does anyone know where I can get the version of Idiot wind outake that was not on "Rare and Unreleased". It featured an eerie sounding organ accompaniment.E-MAIL: zimmy@onr.com While it is hard to pick one Dylan album as numero uno, I'd have to say this is it for me. Everything fits so well together on this album. The lyrics, the music, and the voice all mesh so well together. Sure his voice was "smooth" during the countryish albums, but here he sounds more mature and sincere. Maybe the songs are autobiographical. Maybe they're not. Point is Dylan really puts some passion into this collection of songs. Buy this album even if you aren't a fan.E-MAIL: unearth27 dylan's most universal & personal album.in searching his own broken heart & wounded spirit, he defined the emptiness that we all try so hard to fill.the sublime vocals span the entire spectrum of emotions, while the music provides a harrowing backdrop. an album that chronicles the human condition.E-MAIL: mattymooman@hotmail.com One of the few albums I turn to again and again, when I'm going through pain and suffering. It's my relief,my comfort, my healing! The bloods not just on the tracks here,It's bloody everywhere. One of Dylans most "complete" sounding albums.Gems like this are rare.Beautiful,Potent,Vital......enough said!!E-MAIL: stevrose@pacbell.net This may be Dylan's most accessable album, and it is also one of his best. It's a shame that it seemingly took the coming apart of his marriage to produce such fine pieces as "If You See Her" and "You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome." "Tangled Up in Blue" has a lovely, lilting quality to it and Dylan is back out on the road searching for his salvation again, and isn't that the appeal of most of his best work? He helps us to feel the nobility and importance and universality of the search! "Simple Twist of Fate"- same idea. The songs are so personal and studded with particularity and yet there is a universal quality, as with all great art. I find "Idiot Wind" sometimes too angry for my taste; yet it soars. "Shelter From the Storm" suffers for its comparison with Jesus, but who can deny it's a moving piece? The album contains some of Dylan's best singing and the understated musicianship is ideal for the material.E-MAIL: SYFGips@mail.utexas.edu Blood on The Tracks perfectly capture the reason that Dylan will resonate throughout time, no matter what is going on. Easily one of his best if not the best.E-MAIL: gmcjoe@yahoo.com I don't quite understand about re-recording of half of the tracks. Can someone please explain this to me in great detail. I am very interested!E-MAIL: g phewComments supplied by users do not necessarily reflect the opinions of Roadkill Consulting, Inc. |
