Comments for Easton, Sheena, My Cherie

Criminally ignored return to pop for this Scottish superstar. This marriage of straight-ahead pop songs and lush production is a noteworthy addition to Easton's ouvre because of her standout vocals, which are smoother and more supple than ever. Highlights are the title track, her best pop dittie in years, and the songs "All I Ask of You" and "Flower in the Rain." The last track was co-written by Easton and produced by one-time Taylor Dane boardsman Ric Wake.In the Rain.

Easton's best since '87's "No sound but a heart". Before Celine Dion and Mariah Carey there was Sheena Easton so if you like either of the former artists check out My Cherie. Standout tracks : Till Death do us part, All I ask of you, You've learnt to live without me. Email me if you're a Sheena fan/collector/dealer. Thanks.

The lack of attention and acclaim for this fine pop album was one of the greater music industry crimes of 1995. Sheena released one of the best albums of that year, trumped only by Annie Lennox's "Medusa" and the self-titled release of Incognito's lead vocalist, Maysa. "My Cherie" is expertly crafted, beautifully sung, and a joy to listen to over and over again. Title cut, "Till Death Do Us Part," "All I Ask of You" and "Dance Away the Blues" should have ALL been major singles. Kudos to Ms. Easton for bringing back, in these days of grunge, rap, and techno, the fine art of classic pop music.
