Elastica is cool!!! I heard this girl band on the Jon Stewart show and I loved them! I can't find their album? Help!!

I have read that the singer of Elastica has dated the singers of SUEDE and BLUR. The sounds of WIRE can be heard on this album, as well as a little SUEDE (The singer was once a member of SUEDE).

Indeed quite a superb album. It's sold more copies in its first week of release here in the UK than any debut album by any artist EVER! The band is a four-piece outfit consisting of the aforementoned Justine plus two other female members and one guy! They've just agreed to pay 40% of the royalties of one of their tracks to The Stranglers due to overt 'similarities' in the intro. Dean Jackson.

Why is it that the first song on the album sounds just like "fly in the ointment" by X-Ray Specs??

A fine album which should be given to all small children at birth, to ensure they grow up with good taste.

Excellent album the UK version has a different track listing: 1. Line Up 2. Annie 3. Connection 4. Car Song 5. Smile 6. Hold me now 7. S.O.F.T. 8. Indian Song 9. Blue 10. All-Nighter 11. Waking Up 12. 2:1 13. Vaseline 14. Never here 15. Stutter It doesn't have See that animal (co-written by Brett from Suede) and the running order is slightly different. The LP was limited and contained a flexi of a cover of Adam Ants song- Cleopatra. Buy this record!

I would just like to "back-up" the comments above. This is certainly one of the best albums to come from a Brtish band for a LONG time. If you have it - listen to it, constantly. If you don't have it - BUY IT NOW!!! Happy Listening!!!!!

A super-excellent debut, even if it does rip off a LOT of old new wave records--some obviously ("Connection" = Wire's "Three Girl Rhumba" more or less note for note), some not so obviously ("Hold Me Now" = a variation on New Order's "Thieves Like Us"). But it totally rocks.

Somewhat generic, but still fun stuff, "Elastica" was a surprise hit in both the UK and America. Borrowing heavily (and paying royalties to) both the Stranglers and Wire, the album could never be accused of being original, but songs such as "Stutter" (about a guy who couldn't get it up, so to speak) a nice bits of throwaway new wave anthems. Worth a look, and certainly better than contemporary female artists such as the Cranberries and Alanis Morrisette.

Sub-standard noo-wave rip-off merchants take the world by storm. Good job they had their old collection of Stranglers and Wire LPs to hand or there wouldn''t be a lot to offer. Even with those sound one gets a sense of deja vu and having lived through the 70s once I don''t see why we should all live through it again.

I've just read an article about Elastica and it said more or les they're not very good but they have something. I just don't care about influences,theory..blablabla. Iknow I feel something when I listen to them. They transmit something, and that is the most important.
