Comments for Erasure, The Innocents

Easily Erasure's best album to date (1994), songs like Chains of Love, Phantom Bride and River Deep, Mountain High make this a great album even if you not a big Erasure fan. Give it a listen, you'll like it. (I'd call it Alternative, Pop or Dance; but not Rock though.)

"When I Needed You" is a truly powerful song.

If you are a true Erasure fan, then once you put this CD (or tape) in, you will be compelled to listen to all 13 tracks. Guaranteed!!

I'd have to agree, this is one of their best albums! Definitely a 10. If you don't have it get it!

A powerful, emotional album. Pure Heaven.

The "Innocents" was my first Erasure Album, and since then I have been a devote fan of Clarke. Close to eight years later I have every single album they have released,(as well as Clarke's earlier Yazoo, and DM compositions) and find that they only get better over time. The "Innocents" still continues to be my favorite- every single song, with exception to the last cover (#13), is perfect, and memorable. I to this day still consider Clarke's command of melody second to none. I really have never been able to find a band who can pull so much emotion from what is supposedly criticized as an emotionless medium. Along with Clarke's talent, Bell's vocals are among a very rare group of individuals whom one would call unique, and recognizable amidst other homogenized vocalists- Bell's passion for his singing is wonderful. Other artists who I would put into the same unique category would be Peter Gabriel, Bernard Sumner, Neil Tennant, and Kate Bush. All of whom I also listen to. Hands down, though, Erasure is a band who always sounds like their having fun, and miraculously have stayed the hell away from selling out to the top-40 cookie-cuter form of making music. They are, in a word, Marvelous.

This album is simply the best!!!! I've been a erasure fan for many years and I just loved all the songs in this album. My personal facorite is"When I needed you". It's an album everyone should have.

Simply the best... "When I needed you" is the most moving song I have ever heard...Vince, Andy...Don't stop the music...its the best..

Surely it's no secret that INNOCENTS is ERASURE's finest work of thier great collection. It's the album that hooked me. the song "weight of the world" is not only superb , it's one of the best there is ! I never get tired of that song.

Just like everyone else, this is the album that I fell in love with. There is no other group out there that has the power to draw emotion like erasure. The Innocence is one great song after another. All of their CD's are great, but this one is magical.
