Comments for Erasure, Erasure

Wow. I thought that I Say I Say I Say was outstanding, but this one is absolutely amazing. Vince Clark has really changed since his catchy pop years. I think that this album is what Erasure was striving for in the beginning. Vince's lyrics have gone from glitz and glam to subtle and thoughtful. This is the culmination of all of the things that he [Vince] has learned during the creation of his other albums. You could see his attempts before, from Oh L'Amour to Am I Right?. The guitar mix for off the Stay with Me single helped to show how much more they can do. Simply amazing! When you listen to this, doesn't it feel like your on the beach, in the evening, with your friend or your lover?.... And the guitar mix felt like you were on a bench in a park with the leaves falling around you?...

I think that this is one of the best albums that erasure has ever put out! I agree totally! It is kind of cosmic. It is great to just bug out to. I love it! I love it! I love it! I can't wait until erasure is back on tour!

This is a lot more like it! "I Say..." was perhaps a bit wimpy, but this album is a classic!

As with all other Erasure albums, the more I listen to "Erasure" the more I adore this album. These guys grow on you like no other group I have come across. The Song "Finger's and Thumb's is an OUTSTANDING track. The whispy desperation that Bell sing's the lines "When I'm in your arm's, I'm Strong. There's nowhere I'd rather be"....is never tiresome to a romatic. One who say's that Vince and Andy aren't hopeless romantics needs to listen to them closer. I just hope they decide to come back to the states for a concert soon. The last time I say them was in '90 on their "Wild" tour.

Being an avid erasure fan since they came out, and a fan of Vince since he was with Yaz, I believe I have a really good perspective to go on with respect to this album. You can sense a level of maturity in the albums, or a level of complexity (not strictly in the production sense, but in the emotions and atmosphere of the albums) Erasure is definitely no exception. The beats, the rythms, the melodies are still erasure, but the seem to cut deeper on this album. The seem to go to a higher level, a farther tangent. I also agree with a comment that I read that this album is some like pink floyd. (well, in a loose comparison of course) Especially in Rock Me Gently where the middle section of the song is very reminiscent of old Pink Floyd songs such as Pigs on the Wing from Animals. Particularly where Vince is making the keyboard sound like a voice. Erasure keeps getting better and better and I'm glad that they are still going strong admist the grunge revolution. I'm upset that a lot less bands incorporate keyboards anymore. Synth-pop will never go out of style in my mind and that I believe, holds true for all erasure fans. Well, at least erasure will never go out of style!!!!!!!!

Excellent album, with 'crisp' sound and motivating beat. Played it again and again and never tire if the music or the lyrics. Makes a nice followup to the single release "Always'.

Yes, I agree - this one is excellent. At first it takes a bit to become familiar with these new sounds, but then it catches you. This is simply brilliant! It feels like Vince and Andy have been growing up. They are making music now like they want to do, ballads and beatiful dance tunes, regardless of all the other sh.. which is blocking the billboards (especially here in Germany, where a lot of childish techno is plugging the charts). I love especially "Sono Luminus" and "Love the way you do so" - simply brilliant. The best songs theyīve made since "Ghost" (on the "I love saturday EP").

erasure is changing with every album. i think they are getting better and better.

I have to agree, their new album is alot different and in my mind better than many prior albums. But "The Innocents" and "Wild" are still my favorite albums because of the diversity of the songs. I have nothing against romanticism, but I'd like to see other themes than this addressed on their next album. Even so, I'll still buy anything they put out.

Whoever thinks Vince wrote the lyrics to the songs on "Erasure" is an idiot. Andy Bell wrote all of the lyrics on the new album, and many older ones, too. I can back this up with interviews, if you'd like me to. On a different note; "Erasure" is probably their best work, yet. :) I love it.
E-MAIL: tobias@calweb.com
Also, that middle section to "Rock Me Gently" is actually a solo by Diamanda Galas... NOT Vince "making the synths sound like a voice"... Same goes for the beginning of "Angel"... All you have to do is read the credits for the album.

Erasure's latest album is great and would definitely cause more Ereasure fans to buy it. Although the songs are longer, I still enjoy songs like Fingers & Thumbs and Sono Luminus, which I think will be the next single. I hope they put out more singles from this album.

Erasure is a good album. A long goodbye is unbelievable. The sound is different, with every one of their albums. Which in someways is good but I think that some of the old sound of the innocents album would be refreshing to hear again. I liked I say I say I say, at first and then it got just two corny and lame. Chorus was unbelievable and easily their best album since the Innocents. Erasure is a good album however, it does have its flaws. Songs like, I love You and Love the way you do so, are just plain awful. I have been an Erasure fan ever since their Two Ring Circus album and love their originality and consistent love for music.

Since "Pop...", this has to be Erasure's BEST album It seems almost sensual in how slow and rhythmic it is. "Fingers & Thumbs" has to be THE best song on the album... no, I take that back... the best song that Erasure has ever done!

The erasure album is great, but the best album they have done is Wonderland. I do like the new style to this album a whole lot. It is probably one of their best albums.

I love this album! You can really tell how much of a change Andy and Vince have gone through. This is definately a classic!
E-MAIL: bboucher@ozemail.com.au
Am I the only person in the world that doesn't like the direction Vince and Andy are taking? Everything they've recorded from "Wonderland" to "Chorus" I've loved, but "I Say, I Say, I Say" & now "Erasure" sound to me like the boys are just going through the motions.

Can't get enough of it. Every new album becomes my favorite. Grace, Sono Luminous & Fingers are my favorites.

Why oh why ainīt this poppy??? Hopefully it will be more poppy in the next album. I also have to say that there ainīt a more well-produced album than this. Please write better lyrics!!!Itīlike itīs written to children! Let Martin Gore write the lyrics!!! Erasureīs lyrics were better in the beginning. I really enjoyd them!!!

"Erasure" is an extremly moving album, with a new warmth created that has never existed before in Erasure albums. Outstanding songs for me include "Fingers & Thumbs", "A Long Goodbye" and not to mention their most laid back track to date "Sono-Luminos". After buying this my faith in Erasures music is as high as it ever was, and I hope there are still many more albums to follow.

Oh wow wow wow!!! This is an absolutely gorgeous album!!! I mean, sono luminous was like, kinda makes you wanna spend the rest of ya life lying on the rooftop looking at stars or somethin'. This album is so GOOD, even my friend's piano teacher took to it (she whacked off Oasis)! Rock me gently was kinda sweetish, very dreamish (duh.)just like the rest of the album...definately the best album by Erasure. I personally like Fingers and thumbs...sounds like what i want to tell my ex-boyfriend...Anyway, anyone wants to E-mail to me may of course do so (i'll be thrilled), be sure of a reply.Lastly, Erasure Forever!!!

I bought this album a year ago, and I still listen to it constantly. I think it is nothing short of phenomenal. Even the weaker tracks ("I Love You," "Angel," and "Love The Way You Do So") are still good. Rating: 98/100

When I began listening to this album I would just start it over at about the 7th track. Then one day I accidently set my CD player to repeat the song I Love You. It played again and again. What an experience. Erasure is always full of surprises. I hope the dream is never over.

I've been an Erasure fan since I was 14. Now at 21, I still love their music, eventhough not many people like their style. All I can say is that if somebody reads this message and want to talk about our favorite group, please E-mail me.

Never before my opinion about an album changed as much as on this one: First I hated it, because it wasnīt as poppy as I expected Erasure to be. I returned it to a friend (Thanks Marc!) and was glad not to have bought it. By chance I picked it up a second time and it hit me like a hammer. Played it over and over again and could not get enough of the synth-sound of vince and andyīs voice. Yes, this is not only the best Erasure-Album but even one of the best albums I ever listened to. But: BE PATIENT !
