Comments for Fleetwood Mac, Tusk

I believe TUSK to be Fleetwood Mac's most powerful album, even if it's not as commercially appealing as RUMOURS. Christine's "Brown Eyes" is one of her best moments, not to mention surprisingly haunting fare; Lindsey's "The Ledge" and "What Makes You Think You're The One" show him to be in top form, although he's allowed to many, similar sounding tracks. The highlights of TUSK, however, are Stevie's frighteningly seductive "Sisters Of The Moon" and the bittersweet ballad "Storms." A superb album from a band who would soon resort to trifles on MIRAGE, but rebound excellently with TANGO IN THE NIGHT.

Some considered this album a flop when compared to RUMOURS, because RUMOURS sold asbout 17 million and TUSK wouldn't sell 10 million, but it was still multi-platinum and huge. It was a different step for Mac; it was Lindsey's turn to head-produce and took care of a lot of the sound. It's eccentricity at its best. You get his zany tunes, Christine's whirling love pop and balladry, and seductive mystic Stevie.....in a very different album.

Being a huge Buckingham fan, I''m almost embarrassed to admit that I listen to this album with most of Buckingham''s tracks de-programmed from my CD player. He should have saved his so-called "art" for a solo project. The Nicks & McVie tracks are excellent with a haunting production. Buckingham almost sinks this project for me (except on the production side). The definition of "self-indulgent".
I personally think this album is their best. Great songs from Lindsey, Stevie, and Christine, although they didn`t come together as well as on Rumours. Still, every song on here is a classic. The title track is funky, Beautiful Child is incredible, Over & Over is too smoof, I could go on and on....
