George really lets loose on the psychedelia on this one. Everything is heavily reverbed-out, the guitars wail, and the keys are taken over the master Bernie Worrell. The songwriting has also matured, taking on more socially relevant topics such as opening up your mind (the title track) and inner city poverty (Eulogy and Light). This also contains the knockout tracks Funky Dollar Bill and I Wanna Know if it`s Good to You. Unfortunately, most of this is undone by the outstandingly shitty mastering job done on the CD. I don`t know if it sounded this way when it was originally released, but the mastering volume is waaaay down, the treble is up too high, and you can`t hear the bass guitar and drums very well at all. Plus, on the title track, the right channel is very muffled for almost half the song!! If it weren`t for the major technical flaws, this would be essential; but until Westbound gets its act together, save this one for last.
