Comments for Harding, John Wesley, Here Comes the Groom

E-MAIL: mhostetler@college.antioch.edu
Wes'' first album is a cocky, audacious and brilliant collection of 15 original songs. Blatant about his influences (even before the last track "Bastard Son" where he bares all), even going so far as to hire members of Elvis Costello''s backing band, the Attractions. While not immidiatly accesible, repeated listenings provide much in return. A very worthy and honest album.
This is Wes` first studio album, a fun mix of politics, love, and just plain life. Wes is a storyteller here, he`s a priest, he`s a villain, he`s lost, and he is Bob Dylan andJoan Baez`s bastard son. It`s a great album for any day,any time, any mood, and contains "The Red Rose and the Briar,"a lengthy ballad of being lost and found that absolutelyeveryone should hear.
