Comments for Ian, Janis, Revenge

Neither so-so, nor trite, this album reflects a harder-edged Janis, but still has the emotional involvement we've come to expect from this gifted singer-songwriter. And we didn't have to wait 13 years for this one, either! :-)

Whatever the critics may have to say about this brave album,I think it is actually one of the best and most interesting albums Janis has released. And, coming from me, that is saying a lot - I like all her albums, but this is one of my favourites. The lyrics are angry, sometimes even funny, but never, never trite. "DAVY" and "WHEN ANGELS CRY" have already been mentioned, but other tracks impress as much as they do - the thought-provoking "THE MISSION",the intense "STOLEN FIRE" and the melancholy "RUBY" all add to what is a genuinely great album. Only two of the tracks are not that great, in my opinion, and they are the ballads "TENDERNESS" and "NOONE ELSE LIKE YOU",which feel are a bit mundane, coming from the great Lady Janis. I hope Janis will release another album soon - like other fans, I donīt want to wait until 2007!
A couple of very nice entries -- "Davy" and "The Mission."Other than that, so-so.Last track, "When Angels Cry," struck me as a rather triteentry about AIDS.
