If I could write songs, play an instrument, and sing like Ian McNabb, I would give up everything else in my life. Thanks Icicle Works!!

An incredible album that to this day ranks as one of my all-time favorites. "A Whisper to a Scream" is without a doubt my favorite song and the sounds of Chris Sharrock's drums are more than enough to break me out of the most melancholic days. An all time classic album that most people have never heard of but somehow seem to know this song. I am an avid Icicle Works fan and am collecting anything I can find from them...

an absolutely brilliant album that has shaped my life in many ways. i too am an avid collector of icicle works paraphenalia, with over 30 lp's, ep's, 12', cd's, and casettes. if you like the more rocking icicle works music, try ian mcnabb's solo stuff, especially "head like a rock".

When I first bought this Album (on cassette), I didn''t realise that I would play it so much that I would have to replace it twice with another cassette and finally a CD! I was a heavy-metal freak in 1984 when I saw this young Liverpudlian trio on TV (Old Grey Whistle Test? Can''t remember...) I think they played "Love is a W.C", "Bird''s Fly", and "Cauldron of Love". I was spellbound! How dare they! What gave them the right to perform music like this! Power and beauty combine! Unfortunately, my school chum''s at the time didn''t quite agree, and hence The Icicle Works lack of real success. Check out "Merseybeast" by McNabb. Superb... Feel free to drop me a line if you want to reminisce or whatever...Dave
