Comments for Icicle Works, The, Permanent Damage

E-MAIL: jgorai@fox.nstn.ca
In talking with Ian McNabb about this endeavour, he could describe it only as "a pretty good record, if a little dark." Motorcycle Rider is the clear winner on the album almost reaching back to the glory days of the band. A hard album to find. I am desperately searching for it.

If you can find this album, buy it. It'll do you no permanent damage. I view it more like a McNabb solo album, actually. For incredible fans only, please.
A RARE ALBUM OF ANGST AND FRUSTRATION. I THINK IT HURT MCNABB TO WRITE AND RECORD THIS ONE. NEW LINE-UP WITH ROBERT IAN MCNABB ON VOCALS, GUITAR, AND KEYBOARDS....ROY CORKHILL ON BASS.....PAUL BURGESS ON DRUMS.

early 1990, and my girlfriend had just left me. i had a useless job, a gum abcess, and my car had packed in. but, the new icicle works lp was out, so everything would be ok...........on buying "permanent damage", and expecting optimistic songs of love and hope as usual, my gob dropped open at the sound of songs like "woman on my mind", "looks like rain", melanie still hurts", and of course, "what she did to my mind". this album is really "blood on the tracks part 2" as far as im concerned. everything in my life got sorted out pretty quickly, but i never forgot this album. brilliant scouse blues at its best, a horror story, a bunch of death marches. bit like "scott 4". unbelievable...........god, if only sharrock and layhe were on it......then again, the songs may not have existed then ;)" nice one ian! ive got it, but im not selling, sorry!!

HeyHo, used to own this wonderful album but have lost it over the years of travelling. More of a Mcnabb thing than icicle works and pleasantly? dark. Nostalgia and desperation has forced me to scout in vain for another copy. even a tape recording (dread the thought) would do. if anyone can help please get in touch. Cheers, Matt
