Not even close to their best album. Since 7th Son they been on the decline, IMHO, and this made me lose faith :(

In the overall, this album is not so bad. It contains great songs (Fates Warning, Public Enema Number One, No Prayer for the Dying and Mother Russia) and is listenable from the begining through the (not like the next one:Fear of the Dark). It is surely not the best Maiden album but it still good Maiden stuff.

Arguably the worst Maiden album. A few decent tracks save it from being a complete throwaway.

The live show was also scaled down in a return to much smaller venues. No Prayer For The Dying was indeed much more like mid-period Iron Maiden , and was predictably well-received, bringing enormous UK hit singles with Holy Smoke and Bring Your Daughter To The Slaughter . The latter, previously released in 1989 on the soundtrack to A Nightmare On Elm Street 5 , had already been awarded the Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Song that year. Nevertheless, it gave Iron Maiden their first ever UK number 1.
