Comments for Jam, The, Setting Sons

This is the Jam-album I still like best.

Sort of a concept record as mentioned above, and Weller''s lyrics are brilliant as usual. The music is still punk oriented, but their pop side shows through on tracks like "Wasteland" and the string quartet of "Smithers-Jones".

Originally conceived as a start-to-finish "concept" album about English youths growing up and changes in their lives and British society as a whole. Tracks like "Thick as Thieves" and "Burning Sky" still follow this storyline. A personal favorite of mine, but not as strong an album as "All Mod Cons."

It was bonebreaking to hear this album for the fist time at the age of 17. It guided me while growing up, it stood by me in my 20's and comforts me in my 30's. A masterpiece.
