Comments for Jam, The, The Gift

This album forshadows the soul/R&B leanings of The Style Council. While it falters in some places, tracks like "A Town Called Malice", "Precious", "Just Who Is The 5 O''Clock Hero?", and others, are simply fantastic.

Strong finishing album for The Jam. The Motown sound of "Town Called Malice" (finally, a hit in the US for the band) showed that Paul Weller was itching to go beyond the instrumentation and/or sound of a three-piece pop band. >>>> Brad in Cincinnati
