Comments for Jane's Addiction, Ritual de lo Habitual

The third and final album from Jane's Addiction, "Ritual de lo Habitual" is simply amazing. Perry Farrell, a genius in his own right(and absolutely the most beautiful human to walk the face of this earth)combines poetic licenry with his androgynous voice to invoke emotion and artsitry into the album. Many say "Nothing's Shocking" is the quintessential Jane's album, but the band has reached new heights with this album. From the opening, hard-rocking "Stop" to the melodic reverbal "Obvious" and the account of his own menage trois, Perry puts forth a gentle intensity that no other musician can match. His feelings on social issues like interracial love("No One's Leaving") and love on its own("Classic Girl")reach audiences in a way only Perry can. There is no doubt that this is one of the greatest albums of all time. It is and will always be a sad but true reminder of how much power and artistic energy Jane's Addiction as a group had and how Perry Farrell was wise in breaking up the group at its mainstream prime. Perhaps Kurt Cobain could have learned a lesson from this. Ritual will always be,to me, a crowning achievement and a reminder of how pretentiousness isn't always negative when you have a god like Farrell enacting it.
