Face it, this totally pales in comparison to their previous work. I think people need to accept the fact that Jawbreaker did indeed sell out. The production is absolutely candy coated, reminiscent of ugly women who wear gobs of make-up and cheap perfume. There may even be some good music here, but it's under such a facade, it's not even worth trying to find.

Jawbreaker did not sell out...they are amazing!!! His voice has definitely changed, and I admit that it was better before. But, he's healthier now, and still is an amazing song writer!

This should have been huge, I have no idea why Jawbreaker gets ignored while Green Day is worshipped. Accident Prone should have been the first single, because it's a masterpiece. The whole album pretty much rocks, from the more traditionally punk straightforward songs like Fireman, Chemistry, and Jet Black, to the more artsy, multi-dynamic stuff like Basilica (I think that's what it's called, I may be wrong) and Stuttering. Great stuff, it should be heard by more.

I have to admit that hearing "Dear You" get written off as a sellout has become a big pet peeve for me. Okay, so I've been guilty of the "they've cleaned up their sound and moved to a major label, they must suck now" judgment call myself, but this band doesn't deserve it. The lyrics here are clever, literate, and altogether superior to just about anything else I've heard in this genre, including Jawbreaker's earlier work. At their best, the hooks here are breathtaking. And I have a *big* problem with anyone who finds fault with the fact that the vocals sound "professional" for the first time. "Dear You" is one of my favorite albums of 1995, and a hell of a swan song for a band that could have conquered the world.

Blake had vocal surgery , so yes his voice does sound different . And as far as Dear You being a sell-out record, what to you is selling out ? They never changed anything in the way they wrote and played their music . If Geffen was interested in my band , I would be ore than happy to see what they had to offer . I''m so sick of hearing how it''s not "punk rock" or whatever by being on a major label. Sub Pop Records is signing great bands again , I would gladly sign a contract with them . Jawbreaker was a great band that is and will be missed .
