It is a lovely album. The first song, Waadiye, is an Egyptian song, which when performed live has North African audiences going wild in Brussels where I went to a concert. The song Digge, performed jointly with Wasis Diop, is a surprisingly successful combination of Arabic and Senegalese music.

This is a much better album than Yalil. It brings together Arabic influences from diverse countries and also ties Europe and the Arab world together in an almost seamless fashion. Spanish, Senegalese, Egyptian, Morrocan and other national styles are all included. My favourite track is Atame which has all atmosphere of the typical Spanish "mercadillo".

It`s hard to find in the US, but it`s a lovely album. Personally I was curious to hear it after being impressed by her appearance on Malcolm McLaren`s "Paris" (1994). The album, recorded in Paris, has very good presence -- especially the vocal/instrumental balance. Definitely a pleasure to own and explore. =mw=
