Comments for John, Elton, The FoxE-MAIL: ivoryd@peak.org Excellent music, even though there aren't any real hits... Fascist faces rocks, and Elton's Song is flawlessE-MAIL: hansonjb@whitman.edu The Fox featuring Nobody Wins and Chloe Though this album fared poorly (neither of the singles from this album cracked the top 20), it is an interesting album and features some strong hooks from Elton. "Breaking Down Barriers" begins the album quickly with a great chorus. "Just like Belgium" and "Heels of the Wind" are great rockers that feature great choruses also. "Nobody Wins" evokes a strong response with its lyrics and haunting melody. Facist Faces builds up quite well--though its chorus is a bit flat. Carla/Etude is a beautiful, classical arrangement that shows Elton is a distinguished writer of music. "The Fox" adds a bluesy harmonica song and "Chloe" is a gentle, affectionate song. "Elton's Song" is a bit tedious but the lyrics lead Elton to give one of his most heartfelt presentations. Overall, the album has good songs--just none that would stand out on the charts. In addition, Chris Thomas' production on this album is muddled--surprising given the outstanding the production he gave to Elton's other albums. At the same time, this album marked Elton's first album on the Geffen label and demonstrated he was ready to take on the 1980's with gusto. Jim HansonE-MAIL: griffisr@ptbo.igs.net THIS IS ELTON JOHN AT HIS BEST!!!! Don't listen to any neagtive comments anyone above or below may tell you. From Track 1 through to the end, it is an experience and a silent testament to Elton's talent as a performer/songwriter. Give it a spin, especially if you have it on vinyl...E-MAIL: smokeyjoe To that last buffoon who said that "The Fox" is EJ's best: Lay off the crack, boy!E-MAIL: griffisr@ptbo.igs.net I am not a buffoon. Really, I''m not. It''s a good CD. Carla/Etude, Fanfare and Chloe are a single Track, though they are quite different in tempoComments supplied by users do not necessarily reflect the opinions of Roadkill Consulting, Inc. |
