Comments for John, Elton, Your Songs

Whenever an artist releases a compilation, where and when it is released as well as what is on it usually adds up to total some sort of purpose. I`ve owned this album for seven years now--I`m stumped. A collection of early seventies work, if the album was for the masses--it should have been hits. If the album was for the fans,it should have been rarities. Go figure. One interesting point is that "Your Songs" acted for years as the only location from which to obtain "Friends," as the original album was never seen at all after its issue on cassette in 1978. A fantastic cover for this one, though. Really neat--really Elton John. I guess this album could be viewedas a sampler for any fan strictly into Elton`s eighties music at the time of its release that may have been curious about Elton`s early work. But then they would have bought "Greatest Hits"... I`ll never figure it out.
