Comments for John, Elton, The Scarlet Pimpernel and the Brown Dirt Press Boys

This concept album, now available only as a French import, is not really about the Scarlet Pimpernel or anything like that. It's a rock opera about Diana Spencer. The Pimpernel (Sir Percy Blakeney) is Dodi Al-Fayed, the Chauvelin gang are the Press, and Robespierre symbolises me because I'm supposed to be the villain of this piece. The Anarchists, of course, are the stupid people who attended my ex-wife's funeral, and the Queen is my mom. If you want to enjoy this album I suggest you real the novels first and compare the two.
