Comments for King Crimson, Starless And Bible Black

A solid effort, combining diverse song writing with spirited improvisations. "Fracture", the final piece, is a masterpiece!

This is interesting - very diverse material. Side 1 moves from the catchy-abraisive 1st two tracks to the quiet beauty of the next two to the next two groove-oriented improvisations. Side 2 is more stretched-out with "Fracture" being an interesting Fripp composition. Wetton & Bruford play with real muscular tension on here - very interesting rhythm section.

This album is a hard one. A taugh one. But I tell you: Is also a great one. Try 'Lament' and 'Fracture' - masterpieces.

Fracture is probably KC's best song. Trio, the great deceiver, starless, and the mincer are also classic. David Cross does not heavily involved most of the time, but when he does, on trio and fracture, it is amazing.

Fripp & co. experiment a little more with their improvisational skills here ("We''ll Let You Know", "the Mincer", and "Starless And Bible Black"). "Trio" also sounds improvised, but it''s got to be kc''s most beautiful instrumental song. but the highlight is "Fracture" which matches (if not surpasses) any song on their previous album in terms of being dark and scary music (especially the amazing end part).
