Comments for Lanz, David, Skyline Firedance

I highly recommend this CD! (Another outstanding album by David Lanz is Return to the Heart - Buy that one first!)

This piano music could get very samey and repetitive, but something about Lanz''s judgment doesn''t let it. His frollicking arpeggios have a wonderful feel about them and the orchestration is the perfect complement. The first (orchestrated) half is stronger but the last track of the second half is nice too. "Mask of Togeibi" has some wonderful Japanese sounds about it and a nice dark quality in places, with shifts in tone throughout. Most of the tracks have an almost rock feeling, with the rhythms generated by Lanz''s playing. If you like piano music that is better than just background music, then I recommend this album.
