Comments for Leer, Thomas, Thomas Leer & Robert Rental: The Bridge

THE BRIDGE is a collaboration between Thomas Leer and Robert Rental(a.k.a Daniel Miller, president of Mute Records UK) of The Normal. This cdrepresents the 1992 re-issue that was originally released on IndustrialRecords back in 1979. The first half of the album (tracks 1-5) is synthpop/new wavewith vocals, synths, electronic percussion, and guitar. The second halfis instrumental/ambient because that was the direction Thomas Leer mostwanted to move into.----Over all, it`s a pretty nice album.

Sadly Robert Rental died in late 2000. This album has some truly brilliant tracks. Day breaks / night falls is a low fi electronic gem that is simple yet so rewindable. I urge any fan of early electronica and industrial to check this album out.....

I'd like to point out that Robert Rental was/is not Daniel Millar or the Normal. Robert toured with The Normal (who was Daniel Millar) which was released as a live album. Daniel Millar (who was The Normal) still owns/runs Mute records, sadly Robert died a few years ago. The two sides of The Bridge don't have any specific bearing on the musical direction, or preferences of either Thomas or Robert.
