Comments for Lennon, John, Imagine

E-MAIL: sanderhs@world.net
Imagine is the best song even though the song was written 10 years before I was born I can really relate to it. Also the song just shows that life hasn't changed much since the 1970's. A brilliant album by a brilliant song writter it's such a shame and tragity what happened to him. Although his music makes him live on for years to come and hopefully our own children can appreciate his music as much as we do now.
E-MAIL: grandgenb@se-polk.k12.ia.us
Imagine is the best song of all time.
E-MAIL: marshall@clnk.com
I really think he was searching his own sound on this one!
E-MAIL: Spiderman
Maybe John was too mean against Paul in this album (Listen to "Crippled inside" and "How do you sleep") but otherwise, "imagine" is the best ballad ever by the best artist ever !!!!
E-MAIL: PBSU_JS
I love "Give Me Some Truth"....
E-MAIL: latela@www.hillsboro.k12.nd.us
"Imagine" is by far the very best song, showing Kohn's self-reflection, as well as consideration for the needs of the people at the time. They were looking for an answer to the strife.
E-MAIL: obe7@midway.uchicago.edu
For the record, I very much doubt that "Crippled Inside" is about Paul. Lennon was never tougher on anyone than he was on himself, and the song sounds very autobiographical to me. As for "How Do You Sleep?" it was vicious, but I think there was something more to it. John and Paul always worked best as a team--Paul providing the softer, pop side and John giving the harder, rock edge. I think when John sang "The sound you make is muzak to my ears" he was providing a pretty accurate critique of the worst of Paul's music, sans John. Bear in mind that Paul responded with "Band on the Run," undoubtedly his best solo album, and you can still see the tension of John and Paul's opposite personalities play off each other in ultimately positive ways.
E-MAIL: Spiderman
I promise "Crippled inside" is about Paul. You can tell that especially in the way the song is done: reminds a lot about a Paul McCartney song (for example when i'm 64 etc.9 A little music-all feeling about it !!!!
E-MAIL: Spiderman
What about the line about silly love songs then ???
E-MAIL: cedavid@pegasus.rutgers.edu
"Crippled Inside" is autobiographical. "How Do You Sleep?" is definitly a reaction to having to record 60+ takes of "Ob La Di, Ob La Da" among others. He attack Paul on "Plastic Ono Band", Paul got back w/ songs like "Too Many People...", and John responded w/ "How Do You Sleep?" Note that George plays a solo on it. Anyway, this is a tremendous album. Spector doesn't destroy it too much. Almost every song is great & they are all very honest. The best song on here is "Gimme' Some Truth" Everything except tracks 4&5 is important, and even those two are good.

E-MAIL: Spiderman
Hey, Mr. , don't be rude on this site!!!!
E-MAIL: beaverdam@kwic.com
Imagine the song, was written well before it's time..and strangely is a work of art that reaches into the past...as John Lennon himself, a man from his past reached to the future well before his time....his death untimely tho' it was , left a legacy that shall for future musical artists, whether lyrical or instrumental be difficult to top.
E-MAIL: NGraham820
John DID NOT write how do you sleep about Paul, thank you very much! I think it is an awesome album. John was awesome!!!!!!!!!!!
E-MAIL: Spiderman
How do you sleep is about Paul , you will understand that if you ever listen to the lyrics
E-MAIL: NGraham820
Hi! My name is Katie. I think Imagine is one of John Lennon's best albums. My favorite songs are Oh! Yoko, Crippled Inside, Give Me Some Truth, and of course, Imagine. John was a great poet, singer, writer, artist, and person in general. Give peace a chance!!!!!!
E-MAIL: kingolov@hotmail.com
I JUST LOVE JOHNS MUSIC !!!! Imagen is one of the best songs ever vritten !!! He´s just the best !!
E-MAIL: kippy@snd.softfarm.com
I think John Lennon was the greatest songwriter of all tim so far and I think it will live on years to come!!!
E-MAIL: Spiderman
John and Paul are the greatest songwriters of all time.
E-MAIL: Xena,Hippy Princess
Hi, I have never heard any of these songs, and if any of them were really written to be mean to Paul I don't want to hear them. Nothen aginst John but Paul has and always will be my favorit! Hope I didn't ruin your day, Xena
E-MAIL: me, xena
I have to fart and I am dedicating it to Yoko cause I really hate her cause she's not nice !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
E-MAIL: Spiderman
Ok, Yoko changed John, but he loved her and was happy with her. And that's what counts. I personally have nothing against Yokko. It was not her fault that the Beatles broke up. It would have happened sooner or later.
E-MAIL: Xena,hippy princess
I feel the same way you do about Yoko, I don't really like her or hate her,I just don't like her very much, she bugs me.
E-MAIL: Spiderman
John wouldn't have liked that. By the way, what is Yoko and Sean doing nowadays????
E-MAIL: Heather
Sean is in a band, and he's parading around in dresses. i don't know anything about yoko, other than that i do not like her singing, and i do not like what she did to John's songwriting from the White Album onward. of course, i don't mean all of his songwriting, just some few select songs. what is Jules doing now?
E-MAIL: Spiderman
He is collecting Beatles stuff, he recently buyed "Hey Jude" at an auction . And that was just the beginning. Anyway, after Paul, i guess that Jules is the best person to own that song. Better than Wacko Jacko, anyway.
E-MAIL: Heather
well thank goodness he's buying some songs!! i heard he's also a musician as well. perhaps he and Paul could get together...
E-MAIL: Spiderman
some years ago, he made a song that sold quite good. "Saltwater Melts In My Eye" It sound almost like "Strawberry Fields Forever". My mother has his record.
E-MAIL: Heather
i wonder if making it sound like "strawberry" on purpose. i personally have never heard him sing, but people say he sounds a lot like John. is this true??
E-MAIL: Spiderman
The beginning of the song sound like "Strawberry fields..." And yes, it's on purpose. He said it got more attention that way, and he wanted that because it's an important message in the song (about pollution). He sounds like John, but is nowhere near his talent. He's Ok. His voice is very much like john's.
E-MAIL: Spiderman
And Julian doesn't want to play with Paul. He says he could never replace hid father. True. I feel sorry for Julian, becuase everything he does is compared to john's music.
E-MAIL: Heather
for julian, probably the worst thing he could have done was gone into music. because you're right, everything he does will always be compared to John. that must be very difficult to deal with. you know, having your work compared to one of the greatest songwriters of all time!!
E-MAIL: Spiderman
Yeah, he haven't done any music in a while now, maybe he has given it up.
E-MAIL: Heather
can't say i blame him!
E-MAIL: Me,xena
I agree!
E-MAIL: Spiderman
John.com , are you and cedavid... the same person ???????
E-MAIL: Heather
ooh, a conspiracy!
E-MAIL: john.com
What? I'm john.com. I read cedavid's posts though. I agree with them - very intelligent - I agree with alot of them.
E-MAIL: Heather
so you want to deny everything. well, Johnny (or should i say cevadid), i will eventually find out the truth. so we can do this the easy way or the hard way. what's it going to be?
E-MAIL: me, xena
Heather your a nut!!!:)
E-MAIL: Heather
the truth must be told, xena.
E-MAIL: john.com
Heather is a nice person.
E-MAIL: Heather
thanks,i know!
E-MAIL: Spiderman
Back to the main subject. Are/were you Cedavid, John ?????
E-MAIL: john.com
No
E-MAIL: Heather
no, he couldn't be. if you look at their comments and compare them, the contradict each other and are nothing alike. anyhow, why would you wonder that, Spiderman? and when are you going to question my identity too?: )
E-MAIL: Spiderman
OK, I belive you, John. I just thought they had almost the same opinions and knew about equally as much about the Beatles. But I see I was wrong. And Heather, I promise i'll never question your identity, swear to god. :)
E-MAIL: john.com
Spiderman, are you a hockey fan? I know it's big in Sweeden.
E-MAIL: Heather
go Rangers!
E-MAIL: Spiderman
Yeah, I'm a BIG hockey fan. My favourite team in the NHL is the Toronto Maple Leafs. How about you John ??????? How did you know it's big in Sweden ??? And Heather, the only good players in the Rangers are Wayne Gretzky, Niklas Sundstrom, Ulf Samuelsson and Mark Messier.
E-MAIL: john.com
The Leafs are facing some pretty lean times. Even though I live in New Jersey (within 3 hockey teams), I'm a Penguins fan - Mario and Jaromir. I'm sad to see him retire - I watched his last payof series. I HATE THE RANGERS - I also think they are going to win the Cup this year because of their $200 million dollar payroll. I loved Ulf when he was in Pittsburgh, but not now.
E-MAIL: john.com
Also, if you didn't know, Niklas Sundstrom's arm was broken a few days ago on a slash, he's gone for the rest of the playoffs. How good is NHL coverage in Sweeden - I know you have your own professional league out there (Sweedish Elite League? - I forgot the name).
E-MAIL: Heather
do NOT pick on my Rangers, John and Spiderman.; )
E-MAIL: Spiderman
My favourite player was Mario, so i'm really sad to see him go, but Jaromir is a big DIVA. We have good coverage of the NHL in sweden since we have so many great players there. And I read a lot of articles on the internet. I knew about Niklas injury. Our league is called "The swedish elite series" and it's the second best (after the NHL) hockey league in the world. I think next season will be a better season than last one for the leafs. Do you know any swedish hockey players???
E-MAIL: john.com
Not personally, but, there are alot in the NHL. The Penguins had the 2 Samuelssons and Markus Naslund (he didn't work out) - Fredrick Osulasan was our best defenseman this year. I guess you're a Leafs fan because of Sundin. Peter Forsberg is very good, and Tommy Salo is on the verge of becoming the starting goalie for the upstart Islanders. Why do you hate Jagr?
E-MAIL: Spiderman
No, I don't like the leafs because of Sundin. It was because of Doug Gilmour. I wish him luck in New Jersey. Jaromir Jagr is a big egoistic diva who only cares about winning the Hart trophy and other individual prizes. you know a great deal about hockey.
E-MAIL: john.com
Well, I watch as many Penguins games as I can, subscribe to their bi-weekly magazine, and visit alot of Penguins fan-websites - I never thought of him as a selfish player. He's already been part of 2 cups - Ive read alot of interviews with him, and he cares about the team winning. He's part of a system that doesn't want to play defense and score at will. I'm sure if he was on a team like the Devils, they would have been Stanley Cup favorites. Speaking of which, Gilmour hasn't done much in the playoffs - people here are down on him somewhat - he's suffering without Dave Andrychuk. I like Gilmour though.
E-MAIL: Spiderman
It's a pity Gilly doesn't play better than he does. With the leafs missing the playoffs, I'm hoping that the devils win because of Gilly. The Czechs big fiasco in World Cup was a big deal of Jagr's fault. Did you see the World Cup ???? I was furious when USA won.
E-MAIL: john.com
I didn't know that - I didn't see any of the World Cup - I guess I don't mind the USA winning (since I live here) - except that Mike Richter was the goalie and I can't root for any Ranger. Oh well, Jags is a team player over here.
E-MAIL: john.com
There is an anti US feeling in Canada over the NHL. Canadian teams (except for Montreal and Toronto), are struggling financially as player contracts go up - and the US dollar is worth more than the Canadian dollar. No one wants to play for the Canadian teams, and some teams are moving to the US - Canadian fans are pissed off with the NHL becoming a US sport.
E-MAIL: Heather
my gosh, i'm gone for one day and look what happens! do you guys wait until i'm gone and then throw a hockey party? geez, boys and their sports!
E-MAIL: john.com
Sh*t, The Rangers just eliminated the Devils - Gilmour is gone. I hope your crummy Rangers lose in the next round, Heather.
E-MAIL: Spiderman
Don't worry, they'll lose against the flyers (at least I hope so) And my feelings for US hockey is the same as the Canadians hockeyteams don't belong in Florida, San Jose, Los Angeles, Anaheim etc. people there barely know what hockey is. Let the teams stay in Winnipeg, Quebec etc. where people know hockey.
E-MAIL: john.com
The Whalers just moved to North Carloina, that should be fun, y'all. I think the Rangers are going to win, it's sickening to say it, but I've been watching all the games - and Philadelphia has bad goaltending.
E-MAIL: Heather the Ranger-lover
screw you, John! my Rangers are going to kick your ass!
E-MAIL: Heather
[sigh]...imagine there's no hunger, a brotherhood of man...imagine all the people...
E-MAIL: john.com
I hated that overtime behind the net wrap-around goal by Graves. It was just like that damn Matteau one 3 years ago. You must of liked that one Heather. What did you think of it?
E-MAIL: Spiderman
Oooooohhhh, I hated '94. My hope was that the leafs would win that year, but they lost against the Canucks. Then I hoped for the Canucks in the finals (I love the canadian teams, you see) , but the bloody RANGERS won!! I hate that Hartford will move. What do they know about hockey in Carolina ??????
E-MAIL: Heather
awesome, Johnny, awesome. i can say no more. and if either of you continue to bother me about my choice of hockey teams, i will be forced to kill you: D
E-MAIL: john.com
Hartford's problem is that it's located about 2 hours from New York and 1 1/2 hours from Boston. They only sold out for Rangers & Bruins games. North Carolina is going to be an interesting situation. At least in Florida and California, there are many transplanted Canadians and New Yorkers, North Carolina might be the 1st place where people are going to really have to learn about it. Of course, there is always this joke that the Canadians who move to warm weather places, are the ones that can't stand hockey:->
E-MAIL: me,xena
you guyz are so silly! As for me I don't really like hocky, it's to violent for me( I hate to see people fight) .But if I did my favorit team would have to be the grizzlies.
E-MAIL: john.com
The Grizzlies are a basketball team from Vancouver, Canada.
E-MAIL: john.com
I saw the Stanley Cup today!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had my picture taken with it - wearing my Penguins jersey. The NHL was doing a promotion with the cup, showing it at different malls in the New York, New Jersey area. I was in awe - I saw greatness, nothing like it. It was like seeing god in front of me.
E-MAIL: Heather
that damn stanley cup is going to be the death of us all! (i don't know what that means, it just sounds good.) oh, what the hell happened to the Rangers???
E-MAIL: john.com
They lost :-> !!!!!!!!!!!! The Stanley Cup is the most prestigious sports award. It's as old as the sport itself. Every year, the winning team has all of the players (and coaches) names evgraved on it - and it goes from city to city every year thre is a new winner.
E-MAIL: me,xena
you stupid head! the grizzlies are the Utah hocky team! I should know cause I went to a fight and a hocky game broke out between them and the Ice Dogs so don't tell me they arn't a hocky team. -k-:) thanx. i feel alot better now (hee hee)
E-MAIL: Heather
yeah, you stupid-head!
E-MAIL: stupid head
That's minor league hockey. I don't pay any attention to it. Us big city people only follow the pros. What the hell is an Ice Dog anyway? Some kind of beer, eh? I may be a stupid head, but the Rangers lost!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
E-MAIL: Heather
hey, stupid head! screw you! next year's the year, buddy! Rangers are gonna kick your ass!!!!
E-MAIL: stupid head
The Rangers & who else?
E-MAIL: Heather
dammit! i don't know. how about the red wings?
E-MAIL: Heather
wait a minute...that was an insult! dammit!
E-MAIL: me,xena

E-MAIL: john.com
You must be from Utah. I'm getting ready to watch the 1st game now. I think the Bulls are going to win, but I hope Utah does.
E-MAIL: Heather (ashamed to even come back here)
i'm tired of the bulls. i'm tired of michael jordan. i'm really tired of dennis rodman. damn, do i hate basketball!
E-MAIL: john.com
I'm a Celtics fan, they've had down times lately, but they're going to be great again soon. I hate it that Larry Bird is coaching Indiana.
E-MAIL: Heather
yeah, um-hmmm. oh, sure! yeah, yeah. oh? wow. hmmm! yeah.
E-MAIL: john.com
What a game last night. The mailman misses 2 free throws (MVP, my butt) and air-Jordan hits that clutch basket at the buzzer. Utah blew it - they ain't gonna win this series now.
E-MAIL: Heather
[zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz......]
E-MAIL: xena

E-MAIL: john.com
Bulls 97, Jazz 85. The mailman didn't deliver tonight either. Stinko. I'm impartial to both teams, I'm not a Bulls fan. I still think they (Bulls) are going to win. The Bulls and the Red Wings.
E-MAIL: xena
hay the mailman had a hurt hand
E-MAIL: john.com
Game 3 - Good one tonight - but I'm not happy with the way they let Chicago back in the game.
E-MAIL: Congratulations Detroit Red Wings - 1996-1997 Stanley Cup Champions!!
E-MAIL: john.com
Game 4 - 78-73. A close one. Nice little basket by the mailman at the end.
E-MAIL: Mmcgill@juno.com

E-MAIL: Flower Child (Heather)
so what is new? did you ever get that night watchman job?
E-MAIL: Spiderman
Nope. I'm currently unemployed and just enjoying life. In August i'll go away stuying for a year in Skovde (about 150 kilometres from my place). But i'll be home on most weekends.
E-MAIL: john.com
Hey Spidey, Heather is afraid to buy this album (Imagine) even though both of us recommended it. She doesn't trust our opinion. :->
E-MAIL: Spiderman
CHICKEN !!!!
E-MAIL: Flower Child
hee hee. so what? i'm sure you haven't bought anything i recommended either. you guys distrust me an equal amount, if not more so [john]: )
E-MAIL: john.com
It's not that I don't trust your opinion, I disliked all new music before I knew you.
E-MAIL: Spiderman
Have you ever recommended me anything, Heather ????
E-MAIL: Flower Child
Jimmy and I recommended Lynyrd Skynyrd to you a long time ago. i am assuming you didn't rush out to buy it. but that's okay. i wouldn't either, in fact, i didn't!: )
E-MAIL: Spiderman
I don't think i'll like Lynyrd Skynyrd.Anyways John Lennon beats almost anything. By the way: what is ol' Jimmy up to nowadays ????
E-MAIL: john.com
Lynard Skynard is OK, but Freebird is an incredibly overrated song. Right Spidey, solo John Lennon does beat alot of stuff out there.
E-MAIL: Heather
oh gee, leave skynyrd alone. i like them, i think they are very good...and i certainly trust their albums to be likened to my tastes, much more than i trust John Lennon. ohhh, but i saw a documentary about him this morning...i cried and cried!
E-MAIL: john.com
I never said I hated them, only 1 song. They were probably the best redneck rock group out there. You said you don't have any of their records either, so YOU DON'T TRUST YOUR OWN OPINION :->
E-MAIL: john.com
Which documentary? I only know the "Imagine: John Lennon" movie - and I haven't seen it in over 10 years.
E-MAIL: xena
spiderman what kind of kiss do you want? it's your choice.
E-MAIL: Heather
go xena! be the liberated, aggressive woman you are! woo-hoo!!
E-MAIL: Spiderman
A real passionate kiss on the mouth of course !!!!!!!!
E-MAIL: xena
o.k. get ready:)

E-MAIL: Rainbow
I'd back off heather. Xena might get jealous and kick your butt!
E-MAIL: xena
[xena gives Heather an icy glare]
E-MAIL: Rainbow
You guyz, i have been waiting a long time to see this kiss:) Hmmmmm......maybe i should set the mood. lights...music.....{singing}.."There you see him, sitting there across the page, he don't got a lot to say but theres somthing about him, and you don't know why but your dyin' to try you gotta kiss the boy" okay now do it xena!!!

The term came up on a Seinfeld episode earlier this year. It was pretty funny.
E-MAIL: Spiderman
Yeah, Seinfeld is fun.
E-MAIL: Heather smiles! life is wonderful, the AL is on top! Tino Martinez is my man- i'll have sweet dreams tonight!: )
E-MAIL: john.com
Tino had no hits. At least the Mets did well for themselves. Bobby Jones struck out Griffy Jr. & McGwire back to back.
E-MAIL: Heather
Tino was three inches away from a home run, John. and he won the home run derby! i stayed up until four in the morning watching it on espn last night. God bless espn.
E-MAIL: Spiderman
Who the hell is tino ??
E-MAIL: Heather
Spiderman, Tino is a baseball player for the New York Yankees. i feel bad for you, since you don't like baseball. you really don't know what you're missing, you know. it's the greatest game!!! [especially for me, if you catch my drift!: )]
E-MAIL: john.com
Only 3 inches away. There's an old saying: "close only counts in horseshoes & hand-granades" - but it was a nice looking foul ball.
E-MAIL: Spiderman
Who is this "Tino" character ?
E-MAIL: john.com
He's an infielder who has been playing about 5-6 years. He started out with the Seattle Mariners as a 3rd baseman & !st baseman, and then was traded to the New York Yankees (who I hate) 2 years ago. Last year, he was somewhat disappointing, was even benched at times during the playoffs & world series. This year he's one of the best hitters in baseball.
E-MAIL: xena
[xena pulls spiderman close and kisses him passionatly on the mouth and then steps back and smiles.]
E-MAIL: Spiderman
What was that for ?:)
E-MAIL: Heather
i think that was your belated welcome-back kiss. it took her awhile, didn't it? oh, well. i hope it was worth it.
E-MAIL: xena
i was waiting for the right time:0P
E-MAIL: Spiderman
And that was ?
E-MAIL: xena
well, i surprised you didn't i ? ;0)
E-MAIL: Spiderman
You sure did.;)
E-MAIL: Spiderman
MWA !:D
E-MAIL: xena
oh,and what was that for?
E-MAIL: Spiderman
A kind of repayment.:) Just my way to say thanx...
E-MAIL: Jimmy Page
This is such a great album! John Lennon's solo career with Yoko went great! But, I don't think that Yoko can sing worth shit.
E-MAIL: john.com
Yes she could. She had great range - she just chose to do many experimental different things with it.
E-MAIL: Spiderman
This was John's effort to reach the charts no. 1.
E-MAIL: Heather
huh?
E-MAIL: john.com
It only made #3. Plastic Ono Band sold poorly because of the stark real messages & hard driving music. With this record, John kept the messages the same, but sweetened the music (violins, pleasant sounding tunes etc.) "Imagine" sold much better.

all of you. I think this song makes each one one of us dive deep inside our soules and reach for the beaming light at the end of a tunel. I think we should all consider this as a joke obviously. It1s horrible.
chris
In 2002 Brazil won the cup. I don't believe it please answer me.
