Comments for Lennon, John, John Lennon Collection

E-MAIL: marshall@clnk.com
I still listen to this one.
E-MAIL: beatles@collector.org
Nice to listen to if you want Double Fantasy without Yoko, and 10 out 10 people do! Roger
E-MAIL: Spiderman
I think "Working class hero" should have been there instead of Johns bad verson of "Stand by me" . Otherwise Great album!!!
E-MAIL: obe7@midway.uchicago.edu
Too many "Double Fantasy" numbers--an album that hasn't stood up (with the exception of a couple of strong tracks) over time, in my opinion. I think one more cut each from "Plastic Ono Band" and "Imagine"--by far his best albums-- would have better served this collection. You're right about "Working Class Hero"--that's an essential Lennon song. Also, I'd have put "Cold Turkey" in place of "Power to the People," which is a great marching anthem but pretty dull to just listen to.
E-MAIL: Spiderman
"Cold Turkey" is in my version of the album: 1.Give peace a chance 2.Instant Karma 3.Power to the people 4.Whatever gets you through... 5.#9 Dream 6.Mind games 7.Love 8.Happy Xmas(War is over ) 9.Imagine 10.Jealous guy 11.Stand by me 12.(Just like) Starting over 13. Woman 14.I'm losing you 15. Beautiful boy (darling boy) 16.Watching the wheels 17.Dear Yoko 18.Move over Ms.L 19.Cold Turkey Arent they on your versions ?????
E-MAIL: cedavid@pegasus.rutgers.edu
THE CD TRACK LISTING OF THE JOHN LENNON COLLECTION: 1) Give Peace A Chance 2)Instant Karma 3)Power To The People 4) Whatever Gets You Through The Night 5( #9 Dream 6) Mind Games 7) Love 8) Happy XMAS (War Is Over) 9) Imagine 10) Jealous Guy 11) Stand By Me 12) Starting Over 13) Woman 14) I'm Losing You 15) Beautiful Boy 16) Watching The Wheels 17) Dear Yoko 18) Move Over Mrs. L 19) Cold Turkey. This CD is a great overview of most of his best stuff. Maybe it should have more from "Imagine" and "Plastic Ono Band" BUT YOU SHOULD OWN BOTH OF THOSE TO BEGIN WITH. "John Lennon Collection" should just fill in the rest of the important blanks, which it mostly does. This + "Imagine" + "Plastic Ono" = essential solo John Lennon.
E-MAIL: Spiderman
Are "Imagine" and "Plastic Ono" available on CD, my mother has them both, but i would like them myself too
E-MAIL: Spiderman
I must also add that John Lennon had the best singing voice ever...
E-MAIL: pochock@ibm.net
John Lennon's greatest album by far is Rock and Roll. The Beatles would have been nothing without Yoko.
E-MAIL: carolettes@aol
this album is an excellent example of the range of Lennon's talent. John is , and will continue to be a musical genius in the hearts of many, and I must add each time I listen to his voice , I know I am one of those many

E-MAIL: GlowWurm@aol.com
My fav is the rough Give Peace a Chance
E-MAIL: To Pochock
dear pochock, the Beatles became nothing with Yoko. John met Yoko in 1968, the Beatles officially split in 1969.
E-MAIL: tizenric@ats.it
So, long ago... Well, I think that #9 dream it's the best song written by John, Do you think I'm Wrong? I wake up every day with this song!!!
E-MAIL: Spiderman
Well, I have finally realized that one must own "Plastic Ono Band" and "Imagine" and this covers the rest of his good material.
E-MAIL: Heather
when you said that John had the best singing voice ever, i must disagree. John had an excellent voice, but it's none other than Paul McCartney who has the best voice.
E-MAIL: Spiderman
No, I think that John could do more with his voice. He could sound like a vulnerable kid (Mother) and the next song sound be a real rocker (Twist And Shout)and the next one a ballad (Imagine) he could sing it all . sure, Paul could do that too, but I like John's voice better.
E-MAIL: Heather
i can see your point, perhaps John had more feeling or such. however, i think Paul was much more verstile. listen to "she's a woman", "get back", "here, there, and everywhere", "maxwell's silver hammer", and "besame mucho" all in row and hear how he can adapt to the music or the lyrics, whichever. it's quite amazing!!
E-MAIL: Spiderman
The best thing is when they sang together in the Beatles. They really sound good together. Just listen to "A Hard Days Night" or any of their early stuff. Maybe Paul can sing as many types of songs like John could, but john had more feeling in his singing, and I like his voice more.
E-MAIL: Heather
i really enjoy listening to them harmonize as well. i really like how they sound together on "in my life". and there are some things that John sings that i could never imagine listening to by any other singer. can you imagine Paul singing lead in "this boy"???
E-MAIL: Spiderman
I ment that the were godd at harmonies. No, and can you Imagine someone else singing "Imagine".
E-MAIL: Spiderman
Every time I hear John sing "I can hardly wait to see you come of age" on "Beatiful Boy" I get really depressed. He only lived until Sean was five. :(
E-MAIL: RINGO
SEAN MUST HAVE BEEN SCARED FOR LIFE WHEN JOHN DIED SO SAD
E-MAIL: Heather
i can't imagine anyone else singing anything John's done! and poor Sean!! how could anyone ever dream of shooting John Lennon????
E-MAIL: Spiderman
I have heard that the weirdo who shot him, Graham Chapman was a huge Beatles fan. He must have really lost his mind. Does anybody know what he's up to now ??????????????
E-MAIL: Heather
i think he was obsessed with John, right? and now, that guy is probably dead.
E-MAIL: Spiderman
Yes he was. I hope he is dead.
E-MAIL: ANTONY
FRIENDS, ROMANS, COUNTRYMEN, LEND ME YOUR EARS! I COME TO BURY CAESAR, NOT TO PRAISE HIM. THE EVIL THAT MEN DO LIVES AFTER THEM, THE GOOD IS OFT INTERRED WITH THEIR BONES. SO LET IT BE WITH CAESAR. THE NOBLE BRUTUS HATH TOLD YOU CAESAR WAS AMBITIOUS. IF IT WERE SO IT WAS A GREIVOUS FAULT, AND GRIEVOUSLY HATH CAESAR ANSWERED IT. HERE, UNDER LEAVE OF BRUTUS AND THE REST (FOR BRUTUS IS AN HONORABLE MAN, SO ARE THEY ALL, ALL HONORABLE MEN) COME I TO SPEAK IN CAESAR'S FUNERAL. HE WAS MY FRIEND, FAITHFUL AND JUST TO ME, BUT BRUTUS SAYS HE WAS AMBITIOUS, AND BRUTUS IS AN HONORABLE MAN. HE HATH BROUGHT MANY CAPTIVES HOME TO ROME, WHOSE RANSOMS DID THE GENERAL COFFERS FILL. DID THIS IN CAESAR SEEM AMBITIOUS? WHEN THAT THE POOR HAVE CRIED, CAESAR HATH WEPT. AMBITION SHOULD BE MADE OF STERNER STUFF. YET BRUTUS SAYS HE WAS AMBITIOUS, AND BRUTUS IS AN HONORABLE MAN. YOU ALL DID SEE THAT ON THE LUPERCAL, I THRICE PRESENTED HIM A KINGLY CROWN WHICH HE DID THRICE REFUSE. WAS THIS AMBITION? BUT BRUTUS SAYS HE WAS AMBITIOUS, AND SURE HE IS AN HONORABLE MAN. HEY EVERYBODY, I SPEAK NOT TO DISPROVE WHAT BRUTUS SPOKE, BUT HEAR I AM TO SPEAK WHAT I DO KNOW. YOU ALL DID LOVE HIM ONCE, NOT WITHOUT CAUSE. WHAT CAUSE WITHHOLDS YOU THEN TO MOURN FOR HIM? O, JUDGEMENT, THOU ART FLED TO BRUTISH BEASTS, AND MEN HAVE LOST THEIR REASON. BEAR WITH ME, MY HEART IS IN THE COFFIN THERE WITH CAESAR, AND I MUST PAUSE TILL IT COME BACK TO ME. THANK YOU ALL...
E-MAIL: Heather
what in the hell is this doing here?
E-MAIL: Spiderman
I don't understand anything. I hope it isn't another freak-o.
E-MAIL: john.com
Mark David Ch**man is not dead - he's serving a 20 years to life sentence at Attica prison
E-MAIL: Heather
who is that? and why did you *** to his name?
E-MAIL: john.com
Oh, I thought you knew - I'm talking about the guy who killed John - I black out some of his last name because I don't like spelling him out.
E-MAIL: Heather
okay-that makes sense. remind me to never name my any of my children Mark.
E-MAIL: Heather
and that above passage is the famous Mark Antony funeral oration in Shakespeare's "Julius Caesar", n'est-ce pas?
E-MAIL: john.com
Yeah, n'cest-ce pas.
E-MAIL: Heather...May 24
ah, another parlez-vouser. neat. well, i thought i'd go ahead and say "happy birthday" to Bob Dylan. today's the good man's birthday! "for he's a jolly good fellow, for he's a jolly good fellow..."
E-MAIL: Heather
according to my cheap-o horoscope book, the man is a gemini, like me. wow! hey John, what's your sign?
E-MAIL: john.com
Yep, it's the great Zimmy's birthday. I'm listening to "Blood On The Tracks" right now: one of the best albums ever made:->
E-MAIL: john.com
I was just "trying" to answer your question. I don't know the 1st thing about french. I just finished spanish. I had no idea what I was doing there either. I just learned that when you see a question on an exam, answer it using the same words and you are right half of the time. I'm a sagiterius, but I don't really pay any mind to that stuff.
E-MAIL: Heather
good advice! i'm actually a second year french student, but i can't do much more than a worksheet or two. spanish is very prevalent here, but i'm an idiot, so i opted to take the foreign language that would do me no good. i'm smart, huh?
E-MAIL: john.com
It's useful. You can understand zydeco music.
E-MAIL: Heather
what...?
E-MAIL: john.com
I said, since you know french, you can understand zydeco music.
E-MAIL: Heather
my "what" was referring to zydisco music. what the hell is that, stupid head?: )
E-MAIL: john.com
Who's stupid head? Zydeco and cajun music comes from Louisiana. It's somewhat countryish, bluegrassish (that's probably not a word), sometimes rockin, sometimes waltzes - the primary instruments are accordian and fiddle. As it comes from Louisiana, most of the lyrics are in french. I love cajun and zydeco music - one of my favorite groups of this type is Beausoleil. There is a Beausoleil page on this roadkill site. You might learn a little more about them there. I always see them live when the come to my area.
E-MAIL: Heather
oh, i thought you made it up. i'll be sure to look at the beausoleil page, but it won't do any good. i'm sure i can't find anything by them anyway. je ne sais pas.
E-MAIL: Heather
i'm not sure who stupid head is, but it's such an immature name that it's pretty funny. it takes me back to the mid 80's when i was a wee lass.
E-MAIL: john.com
I hope people didn't call you that in 1st grade.
E-MAIL: Heather
nah! the girl gang used this word among many others as a weapon against the icky boy gang. of course, my opinion has been altered since that time: )
E-MAIL: john.com
Your town is probably so small, that both gangs made up the entire student body (at your grade level).
E-MAIL: Heather
yeah, sad but true. phoenix wasn't always such a big town.
E-MAIL: john.com
How do you pronounce it? Phee-nix, Phoe-nix, Pee-nix, Klee-nix?
E-MAIL: Heather
it's pronounce cleeev-laaand
E-MAIL: john.com
Uh, no, I don't think so. Cleveland is in Ohio, not in Phoenix.
E-MAIL: Heather
what are you talking about, Cleveland? i'm from phoenix, fool. i told you that already. where the hell have you been?
E-MAIL: john.com
Well, you didn't pronoune Phoenix correctly. So who is the fool now?
E-MAIL: Heather
what the hell are you ranting about now?
E-MAIL: john.com
Give me time, I'll think of something. Us northeasterners are never happy unless we are complaining about something.
E-MAIL: Heather
that's why us southerners are so much better company. we know how to relax.anyway, have you thought of anything yet?
E-MAIL: john.com
hockey
E-MAIL: Heather
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.......
E-MAIL: john.com
The hockey season is probably going to end tomorrow (6/7). Detroit has a 3 games to nothing lead on Philadelphia. If Detroit wins, you'll see the famous world-renouned Stanley Cup! You should watch it, you'll see how exciting it is. It's on FOX.
E-MAIL: blaaaaaah....
E-MAIL: humbug
E-MAIL: Heather
New York won! ha ha ha ha!: )
E-MAIL: Congratulations Detroit Red Wings: 1996-1997 Stanley Cup Champions!!
E-MAIL: shut up!
E-MAIL: Heather
New York lost to New York!!!![sob, sob, sob!]
E-MAIL: john.com
I was happy about that - I like that other New York. But they lost tonight.
E-MAIL: I almost forgot
Congratulations Chicago Bulls: 1996-1997 (and 5 time) N.B.A. Champs
E-MAIL: Heather
damn! am i tired of the bulls winning every year. a dynasty is one thing- this is ridiculous.
E-MAIL: Wait till next year
E-MAIL: Heather
What will happen next year?
E-MAIL: Da Bulls
E-MAIL: Heather
are you studying ebonics?
E-MAIL: john.com
No, that's how they talk in Chicago. You never saw those Saturday Night Live Chicago Bears fan skits.
E-MAIL: Heather
nooo, not much of a snl watcher am i. how did it go? then i'll know, and i can say i saw it.
E-MAIL: john.com
It was a recurring skit. Just a group of Chicago Bears fans (usually George Wendt, Chris Farley, Mike Myers and Robert Smigel (a show writer)) sitting around a table full of beer, hot dogs, steaks, sausages, bratwurts etc, talking about the Bears in thick Chicago accents. It was always pretty funny.
E-MAIL: Heather
okay then. did you ever see Bob Dole in the Real World? that was classic.
E-MAIL: john.com
That was good - I suppose. I never watched "The Real World" so I didn't get the inside jokes of the skit.
E-MAIL: Heather
i don't have mtv anymore, so i can't keep up. sniff, sniff. say, was that really Spiderman? or you pulling some stupid prank?
E-MAIL: Heather
i don't have mtv anymore, so i can't keep up. sniff, sniff. say, was that really Spiderman? or you pulling some stupid prank?..........: )
E-MAIL: john.com
On the Imagine board? No, that seriously wasn't me. I was surprised to see that myself.
E-MAIL: Heather
hmm...i guess it was him then. do you think so?
E-MAIL: john.com
I would hope so. Not too many other people come to these pages.
E-MAIL: Heather
true enough. i wonder if he'll come back again soon.
E-MAIL: john.com
I reckon so.
E-MAIL: Spiderman
Yup, it certainly was me!!! Glad to see me again ????:)
E-MAIL: Flower Child
of course: ) so what is the story with all the lightning? how did that happen?
E-MAIL: Spiderman
I woke up in the middle of the night by a huge bang. The whole house was shaking. I ran up and thought our house had been hit. But People with a radium of 10 kilometres had all heard the same bang. Anyways, our phones and the modem and the printer were destroyed and the computer took severe damage.
E-MAIL: john.com
Where exactly did it hit? (Lightning strikes, not once but twice ---- great Clash song)
E-MAIL: Spiderman
Nobody knows. (Creepy isn't it ??)
E-MAIL: john.com
So your computer must have been on when this happened. Lightning shouldn't destroy it if everything is turned off.
E-MAIL: Flower Child
maybe it's the beginning of the second coming- it's a sign. the apocolypse is on its way!
E-MAIL: john.com
Yea, and it's going to land in Roswell.
E-MAIL: Spiderman
Coolness.
E-MAIL: Flower Child
the thrill is gone, brother man. and my dog is mad at me.
E-MAIL: Spiderman
You should know better than treating dogs bad. Shame on you !!!!!!!
E-MAIL: john.com
dogs are OK - I like cats better. Cats are much smarter than dogs.
E-MAIL: Spiderman
No they're not. And cats can't be trusted. You can really rely on dogs.
E-MAIL: Heather
i didn't do anything mean to my doggie! how dare you, Spiderman! she was mad because i wouldn't let her outside. shame, shame, shame. (cats are pretty; dogs are more fun. and yes, much more reliable. how many mountain sled rescue cats do you know of, John?)
E-MAIL: john.com
Cats are reliable - when I walk into my kitchen, I can always count on them being there. They are helpful too - lots of farmers have cats, how many mice do you see around farms? And cats are definitly trustworthy. When I go out, the house is in place when I come home.
E-MAIL: Heather
cats are aloof and cold. they don't care when they've destroyed something valuable, and they never come when you call them. they have their own seperate agenda, which does not include you any further than food and petting. they are fundamentally selfish creatures.
E-MAIL: Spiderman
Well spoken, Heather. Dog's aren't stupid. they're just very spontanius.
E-MAIL: john.com
Dogs are stupid - they can't think for themselves, that's why they're easily trainible. Ask a cat to fetch a paper & he'll look at you like "what is this shit? Get it yourself." Now that's smart - a cat has it's own mind. A cat is a deep thinker. A cat also knows where to take a dump - you don't have to walk it.
E-MAIL: Spiderman
Dogs can think for themselves, they just love to make his master happy. What's wrong with that ???
E-MAIL: john.com
Nothing, I suppose. I've just always had cats in the house - so I prefer them.
E-MAIL: Spiderman
We used to have cats too. But it was some time ago, and they could never be trusted. My dog feels like one of my best friends. Atleast he's the most honest one.
E-MAIL: john.com
I like some dogs breeds & dislike others. I like big sled type dogs: Norwegian elkhounds, chows(?)(they're light brown & have brown tongues). I also like collies. Can't stand little dogs though - chichuhuas, poodles, those little dogs with flat faces & eyes bulging out. What kind of dog do you have?
E-MAIL: Spiderman
i have a Collie. I can't stand those small dogs either. Me and my dog both hates them. We also hate poodles.
E-MAIL: john.com
Collies are the best looking dogs. Very friendly too. I used to have one, but he crapped all over the place - had a stomach disorder & was untrainable - had to get rid of him - I felt bad about it.
E-MAIL: Spiderman
i'm sorry about that.
E-MAIL: john.com
It was about 1979. I guess another thing I like about cats is that they are less responsibility. They know where to go. My cats are pretty friendly too.
E-MAIL: Spiderman
I bet they are, but nothing beats my dog.
E-MAIL: Spiderman
He's just the best !
E-MAIL: john.com
I'm sure he/she is. Collies. Everyone says that about their own pets.
E-MAIL: Spiderman
If you call my dog a girl again, i'll web you to the wall !!!
E-MAIL: john.com
You never said what your dog was. I only had 2 guesses. My cats are guys too.
E-MAIL: Heather
he did say what the dog was. you read too fast. "ahtist" looks nothing like "athiest".
E-MAIL: john.com
I'm an incredibly slow reader.
E-MAIL: Spiderman
I wrote "HE'S just the best", remember. By the way, he's a little bad now. We think he's been bitten by a snake or some- thing like that.
E-MAIL: Heather
poor doggie! that's awful, Spiderman! i hope your dog is going to be allright. are you snakes there as bad as they are here (i live in rattlesnake country).
E-MAIL: Spiderman
No, not really at all. We only have 1 poisinous snake. He seems Ok now, maybe it was just an infection or something. I have been REALLY worried.
E-MAIL: john.com
Get well, doggie
E-MAIL: Spiderman
He's his own self now. But he was kinda scared during the thunder earlier today.
E-MAIL: john.com
You're lucky. We have a drought & 100 degree temperatures over here. We need rain.
E-MAIL: john.com
My cats don't mind thunder. They're afraid of vacuum cleaners.
E-MAIL: Spiderman
My dog chases the vaacum cleaner.
E-MAIL: john.com.
My cats are scared of vacuums
