Comments for Level 42, Forever Now

This is the album that SHOULD have catapulted Level 42 back onto the international music scene and into the American market. The lyrics and songwriting are up to old Level 42 snuff, there's a magic that hasn't been there since 1987, and the sound quality is among the best you will find anywhere. Mark King's vocals are their best ever, and they really dabble with a wide variety of musical genres and sounds. Maybe they will pull a Steely Dan and come back in a few years...

Level 42's Forever Now is forever brilliant, their crowning jewel. Buy this album. You'll never stop listening to it.

Certainly not a bad album, especially when compared with the teribble "Guaranteed". But still, since "Staring at the sun" (a doubtful, inconsistent album or a waste of vinyl as Mark King himself stated), with the hit "Heaven in my hands" (which reached no. 7 in Holland), they never were able to reach their former admired and appreciated level. Although they kept on touring for a while, the need for hits grew and finally they decided them to break up Level 42, which is a shame. They made a lot of great music. I expect King to return as a producer or otherwise with an impressive solo-album.

True form for level 42 this album contains the lyrics and music we have come to expect. I believe this was a solid effort that leaves me stunned the band called it quits. Mark Kings voice is as good as it ever has sounded. Next to almost nothing in advertising in the Usa may have hurt this album, but true fans take this album for what it worth and for what it worth it an excellent good-bye (until maybe a reunion). This album is an instant classic.
This is Level 42`s last album before amicably breaking up inOctober 1994. The recording also features Phil Gould back ondrums. Funnily enough, despite their breaking-up, this isprobably their best album in a while -- a real return toform!
