Comments for MERZBOW, Great American Nude - Live in U.S.A. 1990 - Crash For HI-FI

This album, featuring several live pieces and one studio collage (Crash...), is a handy Merzbow sampler, albeit probably unintentionally. The listener can experience the two sides of Merzbow: head-first noise (a la tracks 1, 4, and 5) and many-armed percussive attack (a la tracks 3, 6, and 7), as well as a little "Bondage Performance" music (track 2) and an ingenious combination of all three facets in "Crash for Hi-Fi."The mood here varies, so the album provides an interesting sort of complete listen (leaving you feeling slightly schizophrenic), yet it all makes sense together - and "Crash..." is the crown jewel, the cherry on top, the wise man on the mountain . . . Anyway, this set should have something for everyone - relatively speaking.
