Comments for Mad Season, Above

When I first got this album, I expected a fast-paced rocker. So the somber vocals of L.S. were at first a let down. However, I forced myself to listen to the CD on repeat, and after 2nd/3rd time, the mood clicked in. Now I can't imagine why RS would give this CD 2.5/5 stars. I'd give it at least 3.5.

...my own interest in this project was peaked after hearing that in the first track they used a marimba . I have always been very pleased with this recording.

This is simply a fine album. Not quite what I expected, but damn fine anyway. By the way, Baker Saunders played with B.B. King's band.

River of Deceit-- Mike is incredable, not to mention unstoppable. Great Album, it so weird it only took four to seven days.

This is one brilliant album and I truly recommend anyone who like Alice in chains / pearl jam to buy it. Simon.

I read that there may be another mad season record coming out in the future, with mike mccready and members of alice in chains (not layne), the screaming trees and not least of all soundgarden. should be a good album if it ever comes out :)

This is the best album of the past two years. Every song has a special meaning and its own source of pain. The variety of styles of music makes it a bitchin' killer.

there IS a new mad season double album coming out next year! one disc features mark lanegan of screaming trees on lead vocals and the other is layne staley on lead. mike mccready and barrett martin are still in the band, but there is nothing known about who the bass player is or any other guests. rumors include jerry cantrell of AIC and ben shepherd of soundgarden.

I must say that this is the best cd I''ve heard this year. I don''t think that I''ve ever heard music that calms me as this one does. Every song is so full of emotion and pain. I want to say that the song "Above" is so awesome and that "Long Gone Day" is the most beautiful song on the cd. I can''t wait for the next one.
Layne Staley (Alice in Chains) - VocalsMike McCready (Pearl Jam) - GuitarMartin Barrett (Screaming Trees) - Drums"Baker" (Various gigs) - BassIt`s like "Jar of Flies" meets "Temple of the Dog".Layne`s hypnotic vocals flow through this disc. The guitars range from mellow and "bluesy" to very heavy rock. It`s nothing like an AIC or Pearl Jam disc. It`s much BETTER!A great effort. I hope they do this again. This appears to be the music they `want` to make.Being heroin-free seems to agree with McCready.
