This is the best album to get other people listening to Marillion. We need to get Marillion more exposure in the U.S.

One of the all-time best "concept albums." Complex, interesting, fun and thought-provoking all while being easy to listen to and enjoy. Not to mention the great cover art. Even if "art rock" isn't your scene, buy this album. You'll love it.

When you talk of the Misplaced Childhood album, arguably the penultimate Marillion album, one gargantuan song leaps to mind. Of course, I speak of the "Heart of Lothian." "Rooting, tootin Cowboys, lucky little ladies at the watering holes." The lyrics and music are of a quality rarely achieved in modern music. I believe the Heart of Lothian to be the greatest song in the history of recorded music. I'm trying to get WNEW FM in New York to dedicate a special hour long special to the joys of the Heart of Lothian. Marillion fans: Let your mighty voices be heard! Send in your requests for "The Heart of Lothian" today! The WNEW Homepage is WWW.WNEW.com

Beautiful, beautiful. This is what the term 'Concept album' is all about. Not only does this album contain great songs, but they also all are clearly connected, adding to each other's magnificence.

Misplaced Childhood is the state-of-art of progressive rock. I never heard something so beautiful, so well built. The lyrics and the music are perfect. I don't get to express myself my devotation to this album. I miss a lot Marillion, the years of 1985 to 1988 were the best (Misplaced Childhood and Clutching at Straws).

Existentialist Fish takes a psychosexual revisionist approach to his life with interesting results (or is the central character just a made-up protagonist?) Anyway, the first three tracks are instantly catchy and the use of "Lavender's Blue," particularly in light of its traditional meanings, is just brilliant. Fish varies between Gabrielesque singing and his own diverse vocal techniques. The rest of the album may take a little while to grab you, but persist with it: there are so many songs/melodies/hooks that it takes cumulative listenings to get into the whole groove. The definition could be clearer in some places but that doesn't obscure the quality of the music. Marillion do the four-piece band with non-instrument playing lead-singer schtick better than anyone. Their sounds are diverse: why do the stores insist on putting them in the heavy metal section? Ian Thomas

M.C. is by far the most brilliantly written and performed piece of music ever recorded.EVER. There is not one misplaced arrangement, note, mix, or vocal on the entire album. This in my view cannot be said about any other album ever made. PERIOD. I love this album, and here's proof: When I first listened to the album in 1985 I made a promise to myself, and I fulfilled that promise in July of 1994 when my first child, a girl, was born...yes, her name is KAYLEIGH.

In a word SUPERB. All the tracks are faultless, with 'Waterhole' a classic Marillion piece. 'Kayleigh' is timeless, whilst 'Pseudo silk kimono' is a perfect intro to a wonderfully written album.

this is most definately my favorite marillion album. the songs just flow into o one another with a artistry i''ve never heard accomplished by another band. i went to see them in Lausanne, Switzerland in ''88-''89, the last tour before Fish left the band, and it was the most amazing show I''ve seen in a long time! Excellent album and a must have!!! I own most of their albums, most on record!
